In the heart of the 'Bourbonnais', 25km from Moulins, sits Chateau du Marquis de Tracy, built during the reign of Louis XIII, and the source of inspiration for Georges Simenon and his novel, the 'Saint Fiacre Case'.

Nestled in the heart of an English style park of 20 hectares, kept cool by 2 ponds, the elegant Chateau du Marquis de Tracy will comfortably accommodate up to 15 adults (4 extra beds for children and baby bed) in 8 bedrooms. It is fully equipped with all modern facilities such as Wi-Fi access throughout the castle. However it still maintains the charm of an authentic castle with everything you need for your leisure, including a private swimming pool.

The chateau is adorned with antique decoration, wood pannelling, large fireplaces, paintings and hangings. There are five large bedrooms, each one with a bathroom (with bathtub and showerhead) and a flat screen television. Three smaller bedrooms, each with a televison, share a common bathroom (also with a bathtub and a showerhead).

There is a large living room, a smaller one that also serves as a library, a dining room, and a further room equiped with TV/DVD and video. Each of these living areas has a large antique fireplace. The kitchen and laundry are fully equipped for your convenience.

Outside there is a wonderful terrace with garden furniture, a vegetable garden, a table football table and a large swimming pool with sunbeds.

Facilities include: BBQ, petanque ground, WiFi access throughout the castle, washing machine and dryer, dish washer, microwave, 2 ovens, cooking tools, Satellite TV, 2 fridges with freezer.

  • Beautiful Ambience

We stayed in Chateau du Marquis de Tracy for a week. I have organized a photographic workshop with 3 models und 4 photographers. Of course (and fortunately for us), the Castle is not new and you feel the history everywhere, but this was exactly what we where looking for. Every room has his own history and ambience and we found many interesting places to photograph. We felt very welcome by the hosts and got all services and help we needed. The models loved the swimmingpool in the garden. The bedrooms in an oldfashioned stil are very spaceful and comfortable. We enjoyed the evenings, when we were sitting in front of the fireplace and relaxed after a strenous shotting day.

Thank's again to Esmeralda and Victoire for their hospitality.

The setting was beautiful, the chateau still has a lot of its original splendour. Plenty of space to host 3 to 4 families with children. Not too far south, so nice location to travel to from Belgium, Netherlands.
