Chateau de Mairie is a beautiful 17th Century Monument Historique set in 10 hectares of lovely gardens and wooded grounds with its own private chapel.
The gardens were designed by Le Notre who was a famous garden architect in his day and well known for the gardens he created at Versailles. The chateau has had an interesting past, it was visited by Charles II whilst he was in exile and occupied by the Germans during World War II. Now it is our home which we have sympathetically decorated and furnished using traditional colours and antiques.
There is a very relaxed atmosphere here, lots of open fireplaces to relax infront of in winter and some pretty spots in the grounds to laze away sunny afternoons. For the more active there is a small beach on the Marne River, just 200 yards or so away, tennis in the village, plenty of lovely walks and cycle paths to explore and horse riding close by.
We are resident owners - on hand to give any information about the area or to prepare breakfasts or other meals if you wish. Our guest see as much or as little of us as they choose as we have a completely private wing of the chateau with no shared facilities.
The chateau is available to hire on a self catering basis for up to 12 people in six bedrooms with five bathrooms, in the following configuration (a couple of single beds can be added to sleep up to 14 if needed):
First Floor • Two interconnecting double bedrooms, sharing a bathroom with bath and shower, and separate WC. • Large double bedroom with extra single bed, en-suite shower room. • Twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom. • Double bedroom with extra single bed and en-suite bathroom. • Huge double bedroom (the bridal suite) with extra single bed and en-suite bathroom with bath and shower cubicle. • We can provide travel cots for babies.
Ground Floor Large entrance hall, housing the grand piano, the main salon with lots of comfy sofas, open fireplace, plenty of tables and chairs for card and board games, an ipod docking system and the billiard table, the dining room (seating for up to 24) with a lovely open fireplace, kitchen (large breakfast table, three electric ovens, plenty of gas hobs, fridge, freezer, two dishwashers and all the gadgets you would expect). There is also a downstairs WC and laundry room, plenty of outside tables and chairs, a gas BBQ and of course the marquee. WIFI connection.

The chateau is located in a small village within walking distance of the local restaurant. The closest shops are 5 minutes drive away which include a boulangerie, pharmacy and 'corner shop'. The lovely old town of Chalons en Champagne is about 10 minutes drive where you can find large supermarkets and a covered market three times a week. Here you will also find the Grande Romaine golf course. The cathedral city of Reims is about 30 minutes away and Disneyland and Paris itself are within an hour by TGV. We are three hours drive from Calais and just under two from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport.
We are in the heart of Champagne country and can point you in the direction of the 'route de champagne' which takes you through some pretty villages where you can taste and buy champagne and wine from small family owned producers and from the biggest champagne houses in the world.
We are happy to prepare meals for you, with prices from 25 euros for a four course dinner and we offer a selection of wines from about 8 euros per bottle. Alternatively we can give you details of the local caterers who will make up a selection of menus with various prices from which to choose. We also offer a shopping facility - send us a list and we will do it all for you before you arrive, the charge is 20 euros.
We offer breakfast at 10 euros per person (5 euros for under 10's), and champagne breakfasts for 18 euros per head. Breakfast is served in the dining room at a time to suit you.
We can also offer the services of a driver if you would like to be able to go champagne tasting without worrying about the car. This can be arranged for up to 8 people.

This is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection. - Linen & towels: All linen and bath towels are included in the rental price. - Energy costs: From October to March we charge 50 euros per day to cover the costs of heating and logs. - End of stay cleaning: €5 per person including children. Turreted and dating from the 1600s, the Chateau du Marquis de Tracy sits in 50 acres of parkland in central France's Bourbonnais region. The grounds include ponds, a petanque court and a lovely swimming pool, while the elegant interior is furnished with antiques. Eight bedrooms, sleeps 20; booked through Simply Chateau (0845 389 9582, simplychateau.com), for a week this summer it costs between £2,135 and £2,585. That's £107 to £129 per person, meaning a family of four could pay about £500 if they split the cost with friends.
