"Well who said Fairy Tales don't come true. After a wonderful week at the Chateau back in September with very special friends it is certainly hard to come back down to earth. We really did feel like Lord and Ladies of the Manor. The Chateau was beyond our expectations with such attention to detail in every way. Thank you to Yvan the owner and caretaker the lovely Nicole (if you could pass on our Thanks). We all had a holiday of a life time each of us will never forget. Hope to relive the experience again one day ...Who knows! It was truly what dreams are made of. Thank You, Take Care. Regards."
The nearest airport is at Troyes (20km). Situated in a sixteen hectare park, this lovely 18th century château estate is 3km from the village of Bar-sur-Seine, 20 kms from the town of Troyes, and two hours drive from Paris. The young river Seine flows through the gardens for more than a kilometre. Bar-sur-Seine has all the essential shops and there is a greater selection including supermarkets, restaurants and general facilities, in Troyes.
Troyes is a quiet town; tucked in a loop of the Seine, it still has an unspoilt central area of delightful narrow cobbled streets lined with medieval timbered houses. Look for Barbery, a soft round cheese cured in wood ashes from the village of the same name nearby. Southern Champagne is an area of peaceful open plains and woods, rivers and lakes, whilst the vineyards are further to the west and north in the Marne valley and on the slopes of the plains around Reims. For champagne tours you should visit the caves in Reims or Epernay. Golf is available in Troyes.
Other local activities include tennis, waterskiing, sailing, mountain biking, hunting, quad-tours, fishing and canoeing. There are several excellent restaurant options in the local area, including a Michelin starred restaurant 4km from Chateau de Foulze.
