Facilities:

Sleeps: 13

Two centuries ago a French nobleman by the name of Augustin de Vernouillet built the Chateau de la Cailletiere which is now in the hands of his descendants. Featuring a spectacular entrance hall and an equally impressive ‘grand salon’, this French holiday chateau is perfect for those wanting to holiday in France in luxury and decadence.

The Chateau de la Cailletiere has recently laid a hard court tennis facility, a private swimming pool, and there’s a generous 70 acres of private grounds for you to enjoy. Perfectly manicured and maintained with rare trees, you’ll be torn between the inside and outside of this luxury French chateau. There are also horses on site! 13 can be accommodated in this lovingly cared for castle where guests have exclusive use of the chateau and all its facilities.

On the ground floor the grand hall leads to the salon rouge, which has French windows allowing easy access to the outdoor terrace. The most spectacular feature of the chateau is a grand salon, suitably adorned with period features such as a chandelier, a marble fireplace and ancient tapestries and portraits. The dining room seats 22 and is adorned with period decorations including a collection of fine porcelain from the Far East. There are two kitchens; the smaller is adjacent to the dining room; the other larger one is a spectacular example of a modern kitchen equipped with every possible appliance, finished off with granite surfaces on a central working facility. Another less formal dining room is off this kitchen. The needs of the children have not been forgotten about!  In their special corner of the ground floor there are puzzles, books, games and a table tennis table. There is a also a WC.

On the first floor there are 6 bedrooms. 4 have Queen sized beds and 3 of them have en-suite bathrooms. Completing the property is a delightful chapel on the third floor

In the grounds of the chateau there is a new swimming pool and a tennis court. Other facilities include table tennis and badminton or you can catch fish in the pond with the rods supplied.

La Cailletiere holds the memories of a lifetime for my family and me. This beautiful place is romantic and comfortable, awe inspiring and historical. We loved horseback riding at the local stables…we enjoyed marvellous French meals. There were plenty of wonderful quiet places to settle in with a book or a sketchpad under a tree in the yard or in one of the large windows overlooking the pond. There were many hours spent exploring this exquisite place and its surrounding grounds. We played table tennis and tennis, visited markets, castles, and museums. We remember day trips to Mont St. Michel, Chenonceau, Angers, and Chambord. We hope to return again and again!

We would like to thank you for the use of the Chateau last week. Despite indifferent weather we had a wonderful time and enjoyed the house and grounds immensely. Everyone (except baby) played tennis and table-tennis and our daughter-in-law rode Milady every evening, I think that they both enjoyed the exercise. The cook and her daughter arranged a delightful dinner on Friday which we enjoyed very much. The family came away completely refreshed and relaxed, so much so that they have asked if we could reserve the same week for next year.

It is the most beautiful, yet the most comfortable and lived in house you are ever likely to find, and it contains everything you could ever want or need for an incredible stay and more!

We have been to la Cailletiere for three summers. It is a great privilege to stay in such a magnificent home... Set in the heart of the French countryside, it is the most peacefull, relaxing and beautifull house - in a grand style. The whole family had a fabulous time including the children who always had something to do: playing tennis, table tennis, cycling around the park, looking for red squirrels, fishing in the pond and going pony trekking in the nearby stable.

We would like to thank you again for allowing us to visit la Cailletiere. It became such a success with our friends that they all promised we should meet again in exactly 50 years... You know that my wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary thanks to you!

A belated 'thank you' for the lovely stay we had at the chateau a few weeks back. We enjoyed the property very much and very much enjoyed the surrounding area. We enjoyed some lovely walks and bike rides, as well as touring. Thanks again.
