Chateau De Vigner Estate

Ideally situated for exploring the delights of the Loire valley, the self-catering Chateau De Vigner is beautifully set in lush and extensive grounds. The Chateau can sleep up to 14 guests, the Coach House a further 10, the farm cottage an additional 5 and the apartment another 4, giving a total capacity of 33. On-site facilities includes an impressive (12x6m) floodlit swimming pool, set within a secure walled garden with a large terrace and children’s paddling pool.

The Chateau De Vigner is situated on the outskirts of the small wine-producing village of Concourson-sur-Layon – the owner is friendly with a few of the local wine merchants so please enquire for special offers and wine tasting opportunities.

Chateau - The chateau sleeps 14 and cots are available for those with very young children. The ground floor retains its original charm with unique tiled floors, elaborate and ornate ceilings and delicate period woodwork. A spacious and inviting entrance hall leads to 2 large period reception rooms, one a TV room the other a dining room. There is a large, fully fitted kitchen. Two large bedrooms dominate the first floor of the main house, one double and one twin, both with en-suite shower rooms and a large family suite comprising a double bed, sofa bed and en-suite bathroom. The second floor offers spacious accommodation with one double bedroom, with a triple room attached, as well as a large luxury bedroom with Jacuzzi bath and dressing area.

Coach House - The Coach House sleeps up to 10 guests. The ground floor is comprised of a large fully equipped kitchen/breakfast room, with open-plan living room (with sofa bed) alongside. There is a twin room on the ground floor with en-suite shower room. The living accommodation opens out onto both a private paved terrace and a courtyard with tables, chairs and BBQ facilities. The first floor offers 2 double bedrooms and a large triple room, all with en-suite shower rooms.

Farm cottage - Up to 5 people can be comfortably accommodated in the farm cottage. The large open plan ground floor offers superb living accommodation (with sofa bed), a comfortable dining area and a well-equipped fully fitted kitchen. On the first floor are two large bedrooms, one double and one twin as well as big family bathroom, with bath/shower, basin and WC.

Apartment - The lounge & kitchen have been designed in a large open plan style with plenty of comfortable seating and a relaxed feel. The kitchen is fully fitted and very well equipped; There is a TV/video with UK satellite channels and a selection of books/games/toys to suit all ages. There are two bedrooms: one double with large luxury ensuite bathroom, with separate shower and one twin with large shower room attached. There is a small outdoor area with table/chairs and BBQ, set within a large courtyard.

All properties have UK Satellite TV (Freeview channels only) and WIFI as well as a large selection of books/toys/games for your enjoyment. We have plenty of high chairs and cots available to put in any of the rooms free of charge.

On-site facilities includes an impressive 12x6m floodlit swimming pool, set within a secure walled garden with a large terrace and children’s paddling pool, games room with pool table, table tennis, boules and badminton. Young children are more than welcome and are well catered for with many toys, games and bicycles. A free washing machine is also available. The chateau aims to provide plenty of on-site activities to suit all ages! Broadband internet access is available nearby.

We are around 3 hours drive from Paris, or the TGV takes 1.5 hours to Angers, either from the centre of Paris (Montparnasse) or directly from Charles de Gaule airport. We are then 35 mins drive from Angers and car hire is very easy from the station.

The owner is happy to help in any way that she can and has friendly links to a few local vineyards so if you do wish to go wine tasting locally please just ask. You can see some of the world’s most magnificent Châteaux and taste the famous wines served to you by the producer in his own cellar. Enjoy the rolling countryside, the stately Loire river and its picturesque tributaries. Visit museums, local markets and theme parks, including Futuroscope and Puy de Fou. Relax on the famous beaches of the Vendée, less than 2 hours away. The river Layon itself, a short walk from us, is popular with fishing enthusiasts and contains a variety of fish. Golfers are well catered for, with 7 good courses within a 45 drive.

Concourson-sur-Layon has a small restaurant open during the day but in Doue la Fontaine (5mins drive) there are plenty of restaurants/shops etc. It is a market town with plenty of character. There is also a large supermarket complex where you can buy all your provisions. We are very well located for the many chateaux in the area as well as many other local attractions.

Travel
Nantes – 2hours away, Tours/Poitiers 1.5 hours away Paris – TGV to Angers direct from Charles de Gaule 1.5hours. Angers Train station 35mins way.

- Security deposit: £600. The security deposit is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
