The charming 15th Century Chateau de Simon is situated in 15 acres of stunning private woodland that contains a variety of wildlife, in the perfect position for exploring the local area and relaxing in the grounds. The chateau sits on the border between the Dordogne and the Lot et Garonne and has the beautiful River Dropt running through the park.
Whilst the Chateau de Simon itself is extremely peaceful and quiet, it is located near to interesting historical towns that have lots to offer. You may spend your time visiting the castles and medieval town of Montpazier, Sarlat, Monflanguin and Les Eyzies. You can also visit the many vineyards found in the area, such as St Emilion, Monbazillac and Cahors.
For water sports and swimming, you will find man made lakes with beaches and numerous places to enjoy golf, horse riding and tennis. There are plenty of other activities that can be arranged such as canoeing and bicycle hire.
This beautiful family house provides a very high standard of comfort and is predominantly furnished with antiques. The grand salon has a beautiful original ceiling and a marble fireplace and the dining room has kept many of its original features, despite being the kitchen during the century that the chateau was built.
On the ground floor is a dining room that seats 12 people with a stunning fireplace. There is also a drawing room with an open fireplace, and French doors that open onto the rear garden. There is a large kitchen and breakfast room that is fully equipped with everything you will need. There is one beautiful double bedroom with a fireplace, two twin bedrooms and one family bedroom. There is a bathroom and a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The first floor contains the breathtaking master bedroom with dressing room and en suite bathroom. Stunning wooden beams and windows that open onto the grounds make this a special place to stay. The second master bedroom contains a canopied double bed with built in wardrobes and original wooden beams.
The swimming pool is surrounded by gorgeous plants and flowers and there is a fully equipped summer house that is perfect for outdoor dining. This really is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

The nearest airports are Bergerac (20km), Bordeaux (1hr 45mins) and Toulouse (2hr 15mins). The nearest town is Castillones 5km away.
The local area is perfect for visiting medieval castles and historic towns such as Sarlat, Monflanquin and Montpazier. You can also visit the many vineyards found in the area, such as St Emilion, Monbazillac and Cahors.

Local activities to the chateau include: 2 golf courses nearby one of which is championship level; 4 tennis courts 5 mins away; visit local markets (one on every day somewhere); visit any one of a number of local Bastide villages nearby (nicest ones listed in book); open boat trip up the Dordogne river; day trip drive to Sarlat (one of the most beautiful towns in the Dordogne); visit the famous Lascaux caves; lots of festivals (fetes); night markets. There is a local tourist information in the nearby town of Castillones who can help you with lots of other suggestions.
Catering is available at the chateau by local catering companies (traiteurs) - typically this will cost from 30 euros per person for a 4-course meal. Alternatively it is possible to hire a cook from the local village/town who can do any cooking that you wish during your stay – they are also usually happy to buy the food and clear up afterwards. Costs are typically between 10 and 15 euros per hour. Maid service is provided every other day during your stay.
- Security deposit: €1000. This is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: All linen and bath towels are included in the rental price.
- Energy costs: Please note that electricity, gas, and oil are charged as extra, per usage and are not included in the rental price.
- End of stay cleaning: Included. Please leave the property in the state that you found it.
- Arrival time: 4.30pm onwards.
- Departure time: 10am.
- Pets: No pets allowed.
- Smoking: No smoking in the property.
- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.
