The beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, Saint Jean de Luz, Biarritz and the Pyrenees mountains that separate France and Spain are all within easy reach of this superb French manor house, located in the “Basque Country”, and the beautiful cottage that lies within its grounds.
The Manor de l’Eveque was originally built in 1578 and has now been fully and fantastically restored by the current proprietors who have managed to maintain its original style, with antique furniture in keeping with original features.
This typical french holiday rental accommodates up to 8 people in the manor house and a further 4 guests in the equally authentic cottage. Your privacy is ensured as both the manor and cottage house have their own private garden. Daily maid service is included in the rental price.
Manor: On the ground floor there are 2 large salons, a stone arch door separates the two so they are ideal for entertaining. Double doors lead out onto the terrace and the views of the ocean. A charming stone spiral staircase links the first and second floors.
On the first floor there is a large dining room to seat up to 12 people. The wide blue living room has a huge working open fire place, a library and TV. There is a large traditional kitchen that contains all amenities including a table that seats 7. The Manor sleeps 9 guests in its 4 first floor bedrooms (3 doubles & a triple), there are 3 en-suite bathrooms and 3 separate WCs. There is an attic on the second floor for storage.
Cottage: The cottage accommodates 4 or 5 guests. On the ground floor the entrance hall leads directly onto the reception/dining room that in turn leads straight to the kitchen. There is also a spectacular terrace allowing for outdoor meals surrounded by beautiful scenery with views across the valley to the Atlantic Ocean. A little single bedroom and bathroom can be found on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a wide double and a twin bedroom.
The Manor sits along a path lined with rows of large ancient oak trees, where a walking trail leads to the village of Ascain. Through the ancient stone entrance, a courtyard with paved terrace enters on to the centre lawn. Looking south from the courtyard there is the nice “jardin de curé”, and to the west, one can look over the peaceful gardens and across to the Spanish mountains. There are BBQ facilities on site.
