Chateau De Cougoreux

The Chateau de Cougoreux is a breathtaking Renaissance Château complex. The Bâtiment Ouest (Western Building) of the chateau sleeps up to 6 people and forms a vital part of the Chateau estate. It constitutes the western wall of the walled courtyard, and overlooks the exquisite multi-faceted southern façade of the chateau.

This is an ideal family holiday location. There is a 20 metre heated pool and private chateau grounds. Catering or self catering is possible – you may opt for full catering, taking advantage of our relaxing gourmet experience.

The property can sleep a maximum of 6 guests. On the ground floor you have a large modern kitchen, dining room, comfortable salon and bathroom. On the first floor you have 2 large bedrooms and a half bathroom. The first comes with queen size bed and a bed for a young child. The second comes with a king size bed that can be converted to twin beds and one bed for a young child. The two sofas in the sitting room can become double beds for occasional guests. Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the property.

Eat on the private terrace, treat yourself to a spa, a massage or even your personal yoga session. Or you can play boules, stroll through the woods, lose and find yourself again in the maze, pick fruit in the orchard or vegetables and flowers in the vegetable garden. Relax around the 20 metre heated pool, sit back and enjoy the view! Please note that the owner may use the pool from time to time but usually this will be early in the morning and she is very discreet. There is also a tennis court within walking distance that can be rented for a small fee.

Soreze is 15 minutes away, Albi and Toulouse are 50 minutes, and Carcassonne is 1 hour so in terms of local activities and places to see there is terrific diversity.

Indulge your senses at the local markets (our closest is the renowned Revel Market). A range of activities are available, including tennis nearby, paragliding at Dourgne, sailing on the famous Lac St Féréol, trips on Pierre Paul Riquet’s Canal de Midi and cycling on the route used by the “tour de France”.

Cathar history surrounds the chateau - the main sites can be explored within a short drive from the property. On the gastronomic side, specialty cooking workshops for groups, or private lessons can be organized.

During your stay you should check out the numerous vide greniers, the various music festivals and the fêtes de villages. You can also enjoy a spa, a massage, or your own personal yoga instruction.

Management Services are available while you are with us – everything and anything can be organised!

Three course arrival dinner may be available on request at €25 to €60per person, depending on menu and wines. Additional meals throughout the week are available at €25 to €60 per person, depending on menu and wines. Alternatively meals can be taken with us at the "table d'hôte" in the chateau for the same price range. Breakfast is available at €15 per person (we have a professional espresso machine and great coffee).

Internet (adsl) and phone calls to 100 countries included (list provided). Calls to cell phones and countries not on the list paid separately through extras deposit – the phone is the house phone so guests need to request access. Otherwise, skype through wifi is a good option if you bring a laptop.

Carefully selected regional wines from the Château cellar are available for purchase as are a range of local products.

- Capacity: The property comfortably sleeps 4 adults and 2 children.
- Security deposit: €2000. The security deposit is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: Included. Once weekly linen change on Friday. Additional change of bed linens on request by separate payment at 20.00 € per bed; extra towels 5€ per towel. Beach towels are not provided so please bring your own.
- Energy costs: Heating not included - additional charge of 200.00€/week if needed.
- End of stay cleaning: Included. However, we expect the place to be left in a reasonable condition. If this is not the case, an extra charge will be levied.
- Arrival time: 4pm onwards.
- Departure time: 10am.
- Pets: No.
- Smoking: No smoking in the property.
- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.
