The chateau is walking distance to the village with restaurant, shop and bar. It is 45 minutes from Bergerac Airport and 1.5 hours from Bordeaux  Airport. In the village there is a small restaurant serving very good value meals (approx 18 -20 euros for 3 courses), with a menu that changes daily. The restaurant is only a short walk from the chateau. The owner of the restaurant is also available , by prior arrangement to occasionally "outside cater" eg: he may come to the chateau and cook for a special meal, he has done this before for us. He also does very good "take away", not a fast food type take away, but whatever is on the days menu can be pre ordered to take away.

There is a large fishing shop close to the town of Villeneuve sur lot which is a 20 min car journey. To fish at the Chateau you must purchase a holiday license, its only a few euros and you can buy one at the village shop. We have a small rowing boat for our guests to use, which is ideal for fishing or you can fish from the jetty.

The lot et garonne is a beautiful peaceful region of France. The land is farmed and famous for the growing of plum trees and the production of prunes. Fresh, locally grown produce is available from the farm shop or from the local weekly markets. During the summer the village comes alive with the Thursday evening market, an enjoyable evening of dancing, music and enjoying the delicious local produce. The Chateau is on the banks of the lovely river lot, which is excellent for fishing and canoeing. The area around the chateau is ideal for cycling and there are many small bastide towns to explore.

The pretty village of Fongrave is just a 5 minute walk from the Chateau. With only 900 occupants the village is traditional and un-spoilt. There is a post office, church and a small shop which stocks the daily necessities along with fresh bread and croissants each morning. Attached to the shop is The Beau-Rivage, a small bar/restaurant serving delicious traditional French food. Each Thursday evening during the summer the village comes alive for the farmers market. This is an experience not to be missed, you can purchase locally grown and reared food, have it cooked for you straight away and locals and visitors all dine together on long tables whilst enjoying an evening of music.

Babysitting can be organised and paid for locally. In the village there is a small restaurant serving very good value meals (approx 12 -16 euros for 3 courses), with a menu that changes daily. We had a fantastic time at the chateau, it was the ideal place to stay with a large family and had everything we needed. All in all, we had a wonderful time, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the chateau to friends.

Brannigan Family, 2010

We had an absolutely lovely time, everyone agreed that the chateau was so spacious and comfortable and we wouldn't change a thing. There is so much to do and it's so beautiful. It's hard to imagine anywhere that caters so well for every age group.

We had a fantastic holiday in your wonderful chateau. It was certainly the best we have stayed in yet, with so many lovely touches to make our break run smoothly. We very much hope to return, I can't wait to go back. We were considering staying on for a third week - it was so relaxing! Well thank you for allowing us to share your beautiful home and thank you for the welcoming flowers, wine etc. It feels strange not to have met you when we have enjoyed your hospitality from afar.

Murray Family, 2010

Having just returned from the chateau everyone in our party agreed that they'd had the holiday of a lifetime. The setting for the chateau is incredibly idyllic and Angela and Steve had thought of every little detail to make our stay perfect. It is one of the most heavenly spots I have ever stayed at, the only downside was leaving! I cannot wait to return as my 3 year old daughter called it 'the princess castle' and this time for hopefully longer than a week.

I wanted to contact you to say how much we enjoyed our stay at the chateau. We had such great intentions of travelling all around the region on day trips but were just as happy to stay beside the pool and enjoy all the home's amenities. All in all we had a wonderful holiday and will be highly recommending the chateau to all out friends.

Family T, 2009

I would just like to say what an amazing week we all had in France. The chateau was an absolute dream and when we pulled into the drive for the first time I was absolutely blown away by how beautiful it was. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to stay in your stunning chateau with its breathtaking location.

The 'B' Party, 2009

A brilliant holiday in super surroundings. Everything about it was magical, The long tree lined drive, the turrets and of course the riverside location. This was certainly a perfect place for us. So much space in the gardens and so much to do with the kayak, boat, fishing rods, pool table, ping pong and so much more. As most of the group had kids and the facilities provided were ideal. All in all we had a fantastic time and would recommend Chateau Cayac to anyone considering it.

Fabulous holiday, beautiful chateau, grand yet homely. Had a wonderful stay at Chateau Cayac. It is stunning yet homely and works as well for young children as teenagers (and grown ups of course!). The location is idyllic next to the River Lot - you can relax and have peace or kayac, swim, cycle and embark on plenty of adventures. Magnificent!

Beautifully relaxing top quality chateau. We were blown away by the size of the rooms and the quality of the accommodation. The river was spectacular and we all enjoyed using the row boat and kayak provided. We had just the best holiday and wished we could have stayed for 2 weeks rather than one.

Relaxing break in a stunning location. The setting is perfect for a relaxing get away from it all holiday. Many afternoons were spent lazing on the terrace with a glass of local wine. The owners have furnished the chateau tastefully and the en suite bedrooms are spacious and beautifully presented. Our suite had the bathroom in the turret!! The chateau really does have a fairytale feel to it and was so different from any other accommodation we had stayed in we were reluctant to leave to explore the area!!

Wonderful place to stay. The weather was perfect so we made much use of the poll and covered BBQ area which has a large first rate gas BBQ witha kitchen. We fished and boated on the river, swam in the pool and relaxed in the shade of garden trees and in the chateau itself. You have to visit fongrave on Thursday evening in summer, people from miles around come for a party. One of our three year olds developed a taste for snails!!
We all had a great time.
