The nearest airports are Bordeaux (70km) and Bergerac (70km). The chateau is a five minute drive from the closest town, Castillon La Bataille, where there are banks and supermarkets.
A two minute drive will take you to a lovely bathing lake with a bar and restaurant. Fifteen minutes away is the fashionable St Emilion, the original UNESCO World Heritage site. Activities within 15 mins include tennis, canoeing, quad biking, jet skiing riding and inland lakes with restaurants and flumes. A real treat of a restaurant, La Poudette, offers contemporary French cuisine.
St Emillion is well worth a visit for a special meal as it is the home of La Hostillerie Du Plaisance a Michelin starred restaurant, which is remarkable but not for the unadventurous! A little further on, the St James' Hotel in Boulliac offers a modern Menu Decouvert in the original 'Hip Hotel'; expensive, but unforgettable.
Bordeaux is a 40 minute drive away with its bustling city and vineyards. The region offers many traditional restaurants serving up the local specialities. Breakfast is included each morning in the rental price. Guests can choose whether to take the chef service for the full duration of their stay, for just a few select meals or not at all but either way the chateau is equipped with an additional “chef kitchen” where your chef can work without interfering with the general hubbub of the main chateau kitchen.
Housekeeping is on hand on a daily basis to help to keep things ticking over. Their duties include setting up and clearing breakfast, cleaning communal areas, daily cleaning within the bedrooms including a change of bed linen and towels mid week, maintaining the pool and lawns, etc.
Childcare including a well planned series of activities for younger guests is available at a cost of approximately 160 euros per nanny per day.
