Le Moulin Neuf

Hidden amongst vineyards, next to a flowing brook, and only 10km from the medieval town of Uzès, sits Le Moulin Neuf chateau. A large chateau of 5000m², it is made up of five independent living areas; with fully-equipped kitchens, 14 double or triple rooms, nine bathrooms, 12 WCs and sofa beds for up to 10 extra people, if required.

The beautiful garden grounds contain picnic tables, a barbeque and children’s playground, all surrounded by cypresses, mulberry trees and umbrella pines. Within Le Moulin Neuf itself, there is a central courtyard with a circular swimming pool (8m diameter and with central alarm so safe for children) and tiled terrace with lounge chairs. Private parking and bike room are also provided.

Le Moulin Neuf has a rich history. It was built as a water-mill in the 18th century and later turned into silkworm breeding and winegrowing farm (look out for the hundred year old mulberry trees which still stand today!) Renovated and decorated in 2002, the house is perfect for large groups and families all year round: with a mezzanine living room overlooking the pool and terrace, central heating throughout and a semi-industrial kitchen, which enables cooking for 40+ people.

House A has two twin bedrooms (one with built in storage and one with hand basin) and a double bedroom with queen size bed. There is a bathroom with shower and WC, plus separate WC with hand basin. No kitchen in this part of the property.

House B is a spacious 2nd floor studio/mezzanine for two to four people. It comprises a large covered terrace overlooking the vineyards, a mezzanine twin bedroom, an open plan kitchen/living room, a dining area and a sitting room (with two person sofa bed). The bathroom comes with shower, WC and hand basin.

House C is an apartment for six to eight people over 2 floors. The ground floor includes a living room with fireplace, a sitting room (with 2 person sofa bed), a kitchen with storeroom and a dining room. The first floor comprises a double bedroom with hand basin and storage, two twin bedrooms (one with storage and one with hand basin). There is also a bathroom with shower, WC and 2 hand basins as well as a separate WC with hand basin.

House D is an apartment for eight to ten people over 2 floors. The ground floor includes a very large light and airy living room (in centre of the chateau with direct light from the roof), a dining room (seats 20) opening out to the pool, a semi-industrial kitchen with storeroom and washing machine and 2 WCs with hand basins. The first floor has a mezzanine sitting room with fireplace (with 2 person sofa bed), a split level master bedroom, a bathroom, a shower room and WC. The second floor (separated from first floor by wrought iron spiral staircase) has 3 twin bedrooms with hand basins and an additional shower room with WC.

House E is a large duplex for two to four people with a terrace. The ground floor has a sitting room with fireplace, kitchen and dining room that opens out to the garden, terrace and river. The first floor has a master bedroom with queen bed, a sofa bed, built in storage and an en suite bathroom. There is also a separate WC.

House F has a bedroom for two to three persons (a queen and a single bed) and a bathroom. No kitchen in this part of the property.

House G is for two to four people on the second floor of the chateau. There is a living room (with 2 person sofa bed), an open plan kitchen, a dining area, a twin bedroom, built in storage, a bathroom with shower and a separate WC.

All open plan kitchens come with four cooking plates, cooker hood, electric stove, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, deep fryer and coffee machine. The semi industrial kitchen in Unit 4 contains some extra equipment: six cooking plates, double electric stove, two cooker hoods, 12 litre deep fryer, electric grill, deep freeze and washing machine.

The chateau grounds consist of 16,000m² of beautiful tree-filled gardens with a private swimming pool (with exterior shower), a barbecue, picnic tables, ping pong and bike/sports equipment. The property is entirely surrounded by fencing to keep the children safe. A private tennis court is also available free of charge (with parking).

The closest town to the chateau is Uzès, an attractive lively Provencal town. It has plenty of shops and restaurants with a “Grand marché” on Saturday morning and “growers market” on Wednesday morning highly recommended. The Duchy and the medieval herb garden are also worth a visit.

Other places of cultural/historical interest nearby: Dions (5km), Nîmes (20km), Avignon (50km), Les Baux de Provence and Arles.

Other local activities include wine tasting, seasonal wine, music and dance festivals in the region, horse-riding in Collias and Russan, walking and mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking at Collias (along the Gorges du Gardon down to Pont du Gard), 9-hole golf courses at Pont des Charrettes and Uzès, rock climbing at la Capelle and Masmolène or the cliffs of Collias and Russan, La Bouscarasse water park in Serviers (8km), hot air ballooning in Uzès.

Catering is available at the chateau by local catering companies (traiteurs) - typically this will cost from 30 euros per person for a four-course meal.

Maid service and extra cleaning is available on request.  A caretaker couple live on the premises all year round.  They care for the daily cleaning of the swimming pool and terraces as well as the tending of the garden.

- Capacity: The property comfortably sleeps 28 adults and 11 children or teenagers.
- Security deposit: €1200. This is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure (8 days maximum) subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: Available for hire for 15 euros per person.
- Energy costs: Included in the rental price.
- End of stay cleaning: 395 euros.
- Arrival time: 5pm onwards.
- Departure time: 10am.
- Pets: No pets allowed.
- Smoking: Smoking is permitted.
- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.

A lovely setting for a family holiday. Lovely pool, park and childrens' entertainment - slide and swings. Very relaxing.
