Chateau Coulonges

Enjoy a wonderfully relaxing holiday at an elegant French Petit Château. The Chateau Coulonges is conveniently situated at the edge of a large village in rural France.

We have beautiful gardens, an outdoor kitchen and barbeque area and a large, stunning heated swimming pool. The rooms are spacious and elegant. The chateau can sleep up to 8 guests.

Your accommodation comprises the ground floor of the chateau. There is a large, well equipped kitchen with gas fired range style cooker and a table seating 6. There is also a sitting room/garden room leading outside and a hallway that leads to separate wc/sink and shower, a double bedroom, a very large room/family room sleeping 4-6 singles and an extra bathroom with shower, wc and sink.

On the first floor is an annex bedroom with ensuite wc and patio entrance.

Outside is a table tennis table, large swimming pool and a barbeque area, adjacent to a fully equipped summer kitchen and seating for 10+. The owners live on site in the upper floors of the chateau and are there to help you with any local info should you want it. All facilities at the chateau (living room, kitchen, swimming pool etc) are for your exclusive use during your stay.

The chateau is situated 5 minutes walk from the large village of Coulonges sur L’Autize, where there are bakeries, butchers and other shops to be found. There is a great market on a Tuesday morning that sells fresh fruit & vegetables, fish, meat, local cheeses, bread and almost everything else! There is also a supermarket 10 minutes walk away and the village has 2 or 3 small bars and restaurants.

There are stables in the village for horse riding, and fishing permits are also available from the local shops. 5 minutes drive away is a large bathing lake with sandy beaches.

An hours drive will take you to the beaches at Ile de Re and the stylish resort and harbours of La Rochelle (nearest airport). The chateau is also 20 minutes from Niort (nearest train station) and 5-10 minutes drive from the Venise  verte – a beautiful region of tree lined canals where you can hire boats. St Malo is the nearest ferry port (3 hours drive).

- Security deposit: €1000. This is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: All linen is included in the rental price. Towels can be hired.
- Energy costs: Included in the rental price.
- End of stay cleaning: Included. Please leave the property in the state that you found it.
- Arrival time: 4pm onwards.
- Departure time: 10am.
- Pets: No pets allowed.
- Smoking: No smoking in the property.
- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.

We had a fantastic time in glorious French weather: beautiful property, fantastic grounds and an amazing swimming pool. A perfect away from it all family holiday.
