Chateau Roche

This attractive little Chateau, built in cut stone in the traditional local style, is the ideal venue for a family holiday at any time of year. The property comfortably sleeps 14 guests and comes with a heated pool in large enclosed grounds.

Chateau Roche is situated close to sandy beaches not far from La Rochelle. This is a wonderful area with excellent facilities for golf, fishing, water sports, bird watching, Roman & Napoleonic history and cycling (pistes criss-cross the entire region). Any activity can be organized by the owners and the housekeeper will happily provide numerous meals from a picnic to a dinner party. A cleaning lady is included twice a week.

On the ground floor there is a kids play area and games room, two living rooms (the TV has some English channels), a library and the farmhouse kitchen with seating for up to 14 people. There is also a large log fireplace located in the kitchen for winter breaks. Facilities include dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, tumble drier and fridge-freezer.

Upstairs there are 8 bedrooms: 1 king size double, 2 doubles, 3 twins and 2 bunk rooms. In addition there is one bathroom, 3 shower rooms and 5 WCs.

Outside the chateau sits within enclosed walls. The attractive grounds include a private, heated swimming pool and a BBQ area with garden furniture. There is also plenty of space for parking.

The chateau is located just a short stroll to village restaurant and essential shops. Larger shops, banks etc are 4km away. In this wonderful part of France there are miles of sandy beaches, islands, rivers and lots to see and do for all age groups.

The chateau is situated approximately four miles from the nearest beach (Marennes), on the edge of the village of St Just-Luzac, half an hour's drive south of the famous ancient port of La Rochelle and quarter of an hour north of the well-known seaside resort of Royan.

St Just-Luzac is on the mainland opposite the island of Oleron. This is an area rich in history that boasts the best climate in France with as many hours of sunshine as the Mediterranean coast.

Local activities include chateaux, wine tours, beaches and local markets. There is also excellent golf and bird watching in the area.

A cleaning lady comes in twice a week and she will also babysit. The cook can prepare food for you if required – payable directly to her. The caretakers live in cottage nearby in case of need.
