Chateau De St Louis Keep

The Chateau de St Louis Keep offers luxurious accommodation to sleep a maximum of 16 in its 8 stately en-suite guest rooms. The Keep provides overnight and weekly rental options with sumptuous entertainment for guests.

The Count, who has owned the Chateau de St Louis for many years, could not be more welcoming. This is a jewel of France's architectural heritage, and any visitor to the Chateau will be delighted and charmed by the experience.

Interestingly, the Black Prince imprisoned the French King, Jean le Bon, in the castle’s keep after the battle of Poitiers in 1356. For larger groups it is possible to rent the keep in conjunction with the chateau to sleep groups of up to 40 guests.

The keep has 8 bedroom suites to sleep 16 guests. Each of the luxury bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom. There are 2 bedrooms on each of the 4 upper floors. Each of the bedrooms has its own character; large fireplaces, stained glassed windows, four poster beds and classic medieval furniture.  

On the ground floor of the keep there is a fantastic living room, dining room and kitchen. The keep is rented on a self catering basis. However, you are able to take meals in the grand hall of the main chateau.

The keep and castle are surrounded by a dramatic moat, a lake where one can fish, and the superbly maintained gardens. There are also excellent bird watching opportunities within the estate.

Le Chateau de Saint Louis is located in the most southern part of the Loire Valley in the region of Poitou-Charentes between the cities of Parthenay and Thouars. The castle is a 3 hour drive from Paris. By high-speed TGV train from Paris the travel time is 1.5 hours to Poitiers, which is a 45 minute drive to the castle.

A continental breakfast is served upon request in the dining room for €15 per person per day (eggs and bacon are available for €5). Also, we will gladly provide you with dinner served in the dining room for €75 per person and a half bottle of red Chinon wine per person. Aperitifs and coffees are additional. There are plenty of fantastic local restaurants.

The owner is very happy to discuss any catering ideas you may have. Anything is possible so please do get in touch.

- Security deposit: €1000. The security deposit is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: All linen and towels are included in the rental price.
- Energy costs: Included in the rental price. During the winter heating is charged to expenditure. To heat fully for a week costs in the region of €800.
- End of stay cleaning: Included in the rental price.
- Arrival time: 4pm onwards.
- Departure time: 10am.
- Pets: Please enquire.
- Smoking: No smoking in the property.
- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.
