A feeling of grandeur pervades the magnificent 18th century Chateau de la Ruix. Nestled in a private park, this timeless chateau enjoys over 5 hectares of glorious gardens and listed orchards that border the River Loire.

The owner Veronique has recently restored the Chateau de la Ruix, and in doing so has managed to achieve a successful combination of regal decor and comfort. The exterior, with its soft cream stone and Wedgwood blue shutters have a traditional look, as does the interior with its high ceilings and elegant furnishings.

The Chateau de la Ruix can sleep 16 in its superb 7 guest rooms. The chateau has a swimming pool and the local activities for all ages are varied. You are even welcome to land your helicopter on site! The owner provides each guest with some of her delectable home made jam!

On the ground floor is the grand entrance hall that is often the hallmark of all the great Loire chateaux. There is a charming reception room with views over the grounds and pool, an elegant dining room and the kitchen that is well stocked with appliances both new and time-honoured. The chateau’s adjoining Orangery offers a bedroom with en-suite bathroom, ideal for older members who prefer not to cope with stairs.

On the first floor there are 6 bedrooms, all served by a wonderful staircase. Each room has its own style of decoration and atmosphere and en-suite bathroom facility.

The chateau grounds are securely walled and extend to over 5 hectares. With the listed orchards, mature rose trees and the Loire meandering by, the grounds are a delightful and private place in which to walk or relax. The swimming pool has been recently added to make this a complete chateau rental suitable for any holiday group.

Beautiful country estate in an excellent location. Great for visiting the chateaux de la Loire. Charming rooms and delicious breakfasts. Not cheap but you're paying for the charm. The owner is a Baronesse and acts like one too so it's good to know that upfront.

We booked this chateau last-minute in August, after having contacted many other chateaus that were all full. Based on the nice conversation with the owner ... we decided to go to this chateau. The experience has been wonderful. The breakfast included in the room price was served in the dining room at a time of choice and was generally nice. The first morning we did not get eggs and yoghurt, but after we got this the second morning we realised that we could ask for this (standard bread with homemade jam was provided).
The owner is very nice and attentive and made it a habbit to pass by all guests during breakfast to see if they needed any advise on what to do during the day. She would advise which chateaus to visit, which winecellars and would indicate a scenic route to take, as well as nice restaurants to go to. It is also possible to have dinner at the chateau, which should be requested 24 hours in advance. We had a lovely dinner with starter, salad, main, desert and cheese, an apperative and wine for a very decent price. As I don't eat meat, it was no problem to have a meatless dinner (in principle the dinner is fixed). The garden around the chateau is nice and there are plenty of seats to sit outside in front of the chateau. There's also a swimming pool but thanks to the disappointing weather we did not make use of it. The chateau is nicely located not too far from the Blois and the Chambord Chateau. Amboise is about an hour drive. All in all we had a lovely stay at this very styleful chateau, and we would certainly recommend it!
