The Chateau de la Croix has recently been rated by The Guardian newspaper to be one of the top five properties to rent in France.
The Chateau de la Croix comes complete with a bar, a private swimming pool, a home cinema, a piano salon and a billiards room. The Chateau has luxury bedrooms/suites throughout, all with modern en-suite bathroom facilities to accommodate up to 24 lucky guests!
The chateau has 5 suites with en-suite bathrooms to sleep 10, 4 luxury bedrooms (3 with en-suite bath or shower rooms) to sleep a further 8. In addition there are 6 single beds that can be added to any of the bedrooms. Each bedroom has LCD TV’s, DVD players, SKY TV, and a selection of DVD’s. The lavish bathrooms have large soft white towels, bathrobes, and toiletries. The chateau has countless reception rooms, a modern kitchen, a home office with internet, and a stunning Refectoire for dining. The dining hall seats up to 30 guests and has direct access to the kitchen. The kitchen also has a table to set 8 and a breakfast bar to seat 10.
There are 5 acres of private grounds, mature trees, and manicured lawns, all magnificently framed by a stone wall. There is a courtyard terrace perect for outdoor dining, a secure heated swimming pool (14.5x6m), and numerous open spaces for children’s activities and ball games, including the legendary football pitch! Parking is no problem with plenty of space for cars. The games room has a full sized table tennis table, a table football table, Playstation with games, bikes, skateboards, frisbees and footballs. There is even an American pool table, including children's sized cues. This is a unique and stylish oasis - you will have all your heart desires at the Chateau!
There are two outdoor eating areas, both seat up to 30 guests. One is on the rear terrace with views of the rear gardens and about 5 meters from the pool. The rear terrace has direct access to the piano salon, white salon and stone salon bar. The other is on the central courtyard terrace at the front of the building with a wonderful view of the front chateau building and has direct access to the dining hall and kitchen. There's also a small terrace to the side of the kitchen with a table to seat up to 6. In addition we have plenty of further tables and chairs that can be arranged, if required, anywhere within the chateau grounds or indoors.

Marthon is a small village located on the borders the Charente and Dordogne in South West France.
In the Village (5 minutes walk)
Tennis courts (the chateau has an annual membership and tennis rackets are available on site). Fishing. Park. Horse and carriage rides (can be arranged from the chateau gates).

There are three 18 hole courses nearby - Montbron 9km, Angouleme 24km and Cognac 54km.

Rail
The nearest mainline railways station is Angouleme. The fast TGV train
from Paris to Angouleme takes just 2 hours 13 minutes and Angouleme is
just 25 minutes drive from the chateau.
When the chateau is hired privately you can choose to cater for yourselves or have the chateau staff cater for you as little or as often as you wish. Our cook can provide any number of catered meals - from a one-off meal to three meals a day if you wish!
To save you time and effort why not take advantage of our grocery shopping service. We will purchase the groceries you have confirmed via your shopping list and have them stocked in the kitchen for your arrival. The chateau bar in the stone salon can be supplied stocked or dry according to your wishes and is for your sole use at all times during your stay.
Included in the hire rate are the services of a caretaker and housekeeper for a period of 2 hours everyday. If you need any additional housekeeping we can be of service. Beauty treatment sessions can be arranged at the chateau provided by a fully qualified beautician.

A marquee in the grounds is possible – price can be quoted according to requirements. Event facility fee is 1000 euros (for our supply of the facilities to accommodate up to 80 guests for a wedding reception). Event management fee of 1750 euros (for our services to co-ordinate and make all the arrangements for the wedding day).

There is a chapel nearby that can be used for a service. An English speaking Celebrant is available.

3 course set menu from 55 euros per person. Sit down buffet from 65 euros per person.

Accommodation
26 guests can stay at the chateau. 35 guests can be accommodated within walking distance of the chateau and a further 60 guests can be accommodated within 5 minutes drive of the chateau. More places to stay within 25 minutes drive.

Angouleme 25 mins. drive, Limoges 1 hour 10 mins. drive, Bordeaux 1 hour 40 mins. drive, Poitiers 1 hour 30 mins. drive, La Rochelle 1 hour 45 mins. drive, Bergerac 2 hours drive.
- Security deposit: TBC. The security deposit is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: All linen and towels are included in the rental price.
- Energy costs: Included in the rental price. There may be a charge for the low seasons.
- End of stay cleaning: Included in the rental price.
- Arrival time: 4pm onwards.

- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.

Your attention to detail is immaculate, and I can't even recount the number of times I thought about something but you had already attended to it. As a result, I was so relaxed and just loved my wedding day so a huge, huge thank you. To say it wouldn't have been the same without you is an understatement.

From the moment we first arrived we could tell that it was going to be a magical weekend. Turning into the driveway and making our way up to the front door was incredibly exciting. All of our friends and family had huge smiles on their faces for the entire time they were at the chateau because it is so perfect. It’s obvious that you’ve been doing events for years because you are so efficient and made it look so easy! We would have no hesitation, in fact we’d thoroughly encourage people to have there special occasion, whatever it might be, at the Chateau. The memories will stay with us for ever and we are both so grateful for all your hard work - you thought of everything and for a second here and there I think Charlie and I actually believed that we might be the new Brangelina!

We booked the Chateau for a week-long family reunion and we couldn't have made a better choice. The Chateau offers comfortable, modern and very unique accommodations, as well as terrific grounds with a large pool, private football pitch and gardens perfect for numerous outdoor games for the children (and young at heart). The surrounding area provides lots of activities, including cycling along a lengthy abandoned railway bed, cave tours, kayaking and cognac tasting. There are also many nearby villages with colourful markets and great restaurants. Nicky and Mark are wonderful hosts and they made our stay extremely relaxing. If you are looking for a week of hassle-free pleasure, there is no better place!
