Chateau du Marquis de Tracy

In the heart of the 'Bourbonnais', 25km from Moulins, sits Chateau du Marquis de Tracy, built during the reign of Louis XIII, and once the source of inspiration for Georges Simenon and his novel, the 'Saint Fiacre Case'.

Nestled in the heart of an English style park of 20 hectares, kept cool by 2 ponds, the elegant Chateau du Marquis de Tracy will comfortably accommodate up to 14 adults and 6 children in 8 bedrooms. It is fully equipped with all modern facilities but maintains the charm of an authentic castle with everything you need for your leisure including a private swimming pool.

The chateau is adorned with antique decoration, wood pannelling, large fireplaces, paintings and hangings. There are five large bedrooms, each one with a bathroom (with bathtub and showerhead) and a television. Three smaller bedrooms, each with a televison, share a common bathroom (also with a bathtub and a showerhead).

There is a large living room, a smaller one that also serves as a library, a dining room, and a further room equiped with TV/DVD and video. Each of these living areas has a large antique fireplace. The kitchen and laundry are fully equipped for your convenience.

Outside there is a wonderful terrace with garden furniture, a vegetable garden, ping-pong, a table football table and a large swimming pool with sunbeds.

Facilities include: BBQ, petanque ground, WiFi access, washing machine and dryer, dish washer, microwave, 2 ovens, cooking tools, Satellite TV, 2 fridges with freezer.

Also within the grounds is a cottage with 3 bedrooms and a further cottage with two bedrooms in the outbuildings of the castle. These are available for larger groups should they be needed. Please enquire for further information.

There are plenty of hikes to do around the castle and the lakes. The fun park of "Le Pal" is located less than 20 km from the castle. The National Center for stage costumes is within 25 km in the heart of the historical city of Moulins.

The Gardens of the Beauvoir Castle are within 30km, near Dompierre sur Besbre. The Arboretum of Baleine is within 30km at Villeneuve sur Allier and the Benedictine's Abbey of Chantelle is 45km away. There are also many activities within 40 min drive (karting, sky diving, kayaking, golfing).

A maid service (10€ an hour), a baby sitter (10€ an hour) and a cook (from 50€ for dinner) can be arranged locally.

Avons été merveilleusement reçus à chacun de nos séjours passés dans ce lieu idyllique où, accueil, gentillesse et disponibilité sont les maîtres mots, et reviendrons cette année avec le plus grand plaisir ! Le site est on ne peut plus calme et ressourçant, les gîtes sont très plaisants , joliment agencés et très bien entretenus, la cuisine est excellente et raffinée. Vous recherchez une location en Bourbonnais pour un week-end , pour des vacances ? nous vous recommandons vivement cet endroit de charme !

Feel like a nobleman:noblewoman for a week
The setting was beautiful, the château still has a lot of its original splendour. Plenty of space to host 3 to 4 families with children. Not too far south, so nice location to travel to from Belgium, Netherlands.
