Chateau Issigeac is a 10 bedroom charming period chateau in the southern Dordogne region of South West France. There are 6 bedrooms in the main chateau (4 of which have ensuite bathrooms), large reception rooms and numerous terraces for outdoor living. The property also has a separate self-contained pigeonnier with an additional 4 bedrooms, kitchen, dining area and living area. The reception rooms are grand, spacious and well equipped for large parties.
Outside there is a covered dining terrace with BBQ and seating for 20. The pool has plenty of shade and is well protected and private. The full size tennis court is fenced and is a stones throw from the pool and croquet lawn. Set in the midst of its own grounds of over 7 acres, Chateau Issigeac has a beautiful courtyard and plentiful gardens ideal for croquet, badminton and ball games.
The Chateau is set in the southern part of the Dordogne and is just 10-15 minutes south of Bergerac making it very accessible from the UK. Although only 10 minutes from the Airport, it is not under a flight route so there is no noise from aircraft. The beautiful town of Issigeac with its colourful Sunday morning market is just a 5 minute drive away.
The reception rooms are elegant and spacious, and spill on to the outside terraces where you have views over the private mature grounds. The kitchen is well equipped with range oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, plate warmer, crockery and utensils for 20 guests. There is a spacious sitting room, drawing room and day room. In addition there is a formal dining room and study. There is also a full size pool table.
The Chateau bedrooms are all off the first floor hallway, with four of the six having ensuite bathrooms. The Pigeonnier provides a further four bedrooms. The accomodation is more rustic with beams and terracotta tiled floors. There is another large covered terrace and this can be used for additional dining or a great place for the table tennis table! It is ideal for a second family, teenagers, grandparents, nanny/au pair or anyone wanting a little bit more independence from the main group.
Set in over 7 acres of park, the chateau is surrounded by mature trees providing complete privacy. The pool is fenced and private and there is a shallow area with steps ideal for children as well as a deeper area for swimming.
The tennis court is a recent addition, extremely well maintained and fully fenced. The covered terrace seats up to 20 and has a BBQ area. In addition there is a table tennis table and croquet lawn.

The chateau is near the pretty village of Issigeac where you will find your local boulangerie, small supermarket, boutique shops and restaurants. On a Sunday morning, Issigeac has one of the best morning markets in the area.
The Chateau is ideally positioned just 10 minutes drive from Bergerac International Airport making it an easy final destination. Ryanair flies here from London Stansted, Liverpool, Nottingham, and Bristol. Flybe flies into Bergerac from London Gatwick, Southampton, Exeter and Edinburgh. There are also interconnecting flights to Belfast, Glasgow, Dundee and Newcastle with Flybe.
The vibrant city of Bordeaux is 1hr 30 minutes away,with a larger International Airport servicing even more UK and Worldwide destinations. In addition, Toulouse Airport is approximately 1hr 50 mins drive to the south - another large International Airport
For train travel, there is a high speed TGV link at Libourne which is a 1 hour drive away. Libourne to Paris is 3hrs 10 minutes and there are regular services throughout the day.
The guardians, Patrick and Liz, are able to offer a personalised service to enhance your stay at the Chateau and can offer the following activities:
Continental breakfast
€8 per person, includes baguette, croissant, butter, low-fat spread, selection of jams and marmalade, selection of cereals, teas and coffee (including decaffeinated) hot and cold milk, orange and apple juice, fruit bowl. Served Monday to Friday between 8-10am. Please request 24 hours in advance.
Charcuterie and cheese platter
€12 per person. A selection of meats, hams, olives, cheeses, foie gras and bread sourced from local producers. Served Monday to Friday between 12-2pm or early evening 6-8pm. Please request 24 hours in advance.
Wine flights
A wine flight is a selection of three wines (125ml glasses) chosen to reflect wine regions or wine styles and makes the perfect partner to a charcuterie and cheese platter. For those who wish to extend their wine knowledge and appreciation we can offer tutored tastings.
Catering
Patrick can arrange (with 72 hours notice) a chef for a dinner party or a special occasion. A choice of six menus will be offered. If the chef is unable to be here personally the food will be prepared in advance.
Other
- Babysitting. Liz will be happy to babysit for you, between 6pm and 11pm (subject to her availability) for €10 per hour.
- Translating and Interpreting. Liz speaks fluent French and is a qualified French-English translator and would be very pleased to help with any translating requirements, from house-purchasing, business correspondence to tourist information and much more. €20 per hour.
- Security deposit: £1000. This is paid prior to arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: All linen and bath towels are included in the rental price.
- Energy costs: Included in the rental price.
- End of stay cleaning: Included. Please leave the property in the state that you found it.
- Arrival time: 4pm onwards.
- Departure time: 10am.
- Pets: Please enquire.
- Smoking: No smoking in the property.
- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.
