The charming Chateau de Seyres with its medieval and classical features is ideally located in a small village in the Charente region of South West France. It has been in the same family for several centuries. A spectacular linden tree in its courtyard, the chateau, nestled in greenery, overlooks the valley and the woods.

It has an ideal location: a minute walk to the village centre and shops only 10km to the Dordogne and 15km to Angoulême with its excellent rail connection, the chateau is easily reached by road, rail and air and remains open all year for daily, weekly or weekend rentals.

It is a little paradise for nature and old stones lovers: the arborated park of two hectares with its pool of 14m will provide a peaceful escape. The immediate surroundings offer many leisure hiking trails.

In the local area, other activities include: the village leisure park for playing boules; a 9-hole golf course (with restaurant, bar and shop) and paintball at one of the biggest centres in France at Garat; horse riding for families at Pranzac; free tennis court and football pitch in the neighbouring village of Bouex( 2km).

The Chateau de Seyres is also  the perfect base for day-trips to explore cities like Angouleme, Perigueux, Brantome, Limoges and Poitiers. The seaside resorts of  La Rochelle, l’Ile de Ré, l’Ile d’Oleron and Royan are attractive destinations with sandy beaches and summer music festivals.

The chateau can accommodate up to 15 persons in two wings connected by a music room: one grand piano Pleyel is at the disposal of seasonned musicians. It's ideal for family holidays, parties, anniversaries or small weddings.  Families with children or groups (up to 15 people maximum).

The five elegant rooms have been decorated by hand and refurbished with a contemporary touch. Attention to details include; good quality beds (two four-posters) and linen as well as period and vintage furniture. Most  bathrooms have been completely remodeled in 2011 with large shower. There is central heating for winter use and occasionally, a blazing log fire!

The chateau is divided in to two self-contained wings: The Roman Aisle and The Cardinal Wing.

Roman Aisle - Sleeps 4 or 5 guests.
Located in the thirteenth century aisle attached to a lovely Roman church. On the ground floor there is a charming dining room with ancient earthed tiles, mullioned windows overlooking the park & valley and a beautiful fireplace. The kitchen (small freezer, microwave, cooker, washing machine, dishwasher) opens on to a private terrace of 23m2 at the foot of stunning Roman steeple with garden furniture.

On the first floor are two double bedrooms. The Heraldry Bedroom is located in the oldest part of the castle, on an open gallery in the wake side of the Roman church. There are magnificent views over the valley and painted heraldries of successive inhabitants of the castle on the ceiling. Bathroom and shower with separate WC. The Romanesque Bedroom also has wonderful views as well as a very nice fireplace. The bathroom has bath, shower and separate WC.

The Cardinal Wing
- Sleeps 6 or 7 guests.
Located in the seventeenth century wing of the chateau. The ground floor has a seventeenth century panelled dining room with fireplace and mullioned window overlooking the park. There is also a sofa bed. The living room next to the dining room can also be used as a bedroom. It is decorated with antique furniture with French windows into garden. The fully equipped kitchen (refrigerator, small freezer, microwave, gas hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine) opens directly into the park with garden furniture and bbq on request.

On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms. The Birds Bedroom (split level) has stunning views of the valley and a double bed. The bathroom has 2 showers and separate WCs. The Cardinal Bedroom has a magnificent fireplace and double bed. There is a large bathroom located in the adjoining tower (with bath, shower, toilets) overlooking the park and trees.

The chateau is located is a small village located on the borders of the Charente and Dordogne in South West France. 5 minutes by car are free tennis courts, fishing and a park.

Within 8 km you will also find canoeing/kayaking, horse riding, karting (for children of 7 years and older) and a waterpark with man-made beaches and pedallos. Within 15km there is golf, bowling and ice skating.

Further afield: Chateau la Rochefoucauld 18km (children can dress up in medieval costumes). Water park and lakes Angouleme 14km. La Vallee des Singes 100km (monkey park). Futuroscope 110km (theme park).

There are three 18 hole courses nearby - Montbron 25km, Angouleme 14km and Cognac 45km.

The owners can cook dinners for you for 35 Euros/person.

July and August a minimum of one week is request there's a 500 Euros charge for our services to co-ordinate and make all the arrangements for the wedding day and help you to accomodate all the guests.

Accomodation
The chateau of Seyres will confortably accomodate up to 9 adults and  6 children in the  dormitory inside the chateau.
It's fully equiped with all modern  facilities but maintains the charm of an authentic castle with everything you need for your leisure.
Nearby 88+ people can be accomodate within 10 mn drive in 2 castles and gîtes and B&B (price and photos on request).
More gîtes, B&B ,hôtels within 20mn drive.

Catering
From 15 Euros ( Buffet) to 80 Euros per head

- We work closely with  a very talented florist who can design imaginative displays.

- Security deposit: €500. This is paid prior to arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: €20 per person.
- Energy costs: Included in the rental price in the summer. €300 in the winter.
- End of stay cleaning: €25.
- Arrival time: 4pm onwards.
- Departure time: 10am.

- Smoking: No smoking in the property.
- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.

Once you enter through the impressive front gate you will be amazed by the romantic garden with beautiful old trees. Imagine enjoying your summer breakfast sitting in its shade, or having your winter aperitif next to the fireplace with the sound of crackling wood. The intimate rooms are in mint condition and during the recent refurbishment all original detailed were preserved. The surroundings are amazing - great for long walks. The two hosts are very hospitable and friendly, and will do anything to make your stay a pleasant and memorable one!

Nous avons passés 1 semaine en été 2010 au Château. Lieu idéal pour déconnecter et se reposer, avec nos fillettes qui couraient de partout dans l'immense jardin. Barbecue, visite, balade et repos assurés ! Quant à l'accueil, sympathique, chaleureux et convivial avec 2 sœurs qui piqueront votre curiosité. Merci encore pour tout.
