The chateau is set in a stunning location on the edge of a very picturesque village in the Berry region of the French department of Cher. Situated in 32 acres of gardens, impressive mature trees and parkland, it offers serenity and tranquility surrounded by all nature has to offer.

The resident housekeeper lives in a self-contained part of the chateau and is there to provide your breakfast each morning and will also prepare dinners on request (at additional expense). A daily clean is included as is a twice weekly change of sheets and towels.

Built in 1838, the chateau has been updated to include handcrafted, double glazed oak windows, produced by a local Artisan using timber from this region.

The chateau is run on a not for profit basis where all profits go to charity. For further information about the charities involved please use the 'contact owner' button above to email the owner directly.

Situated in walled gardens and parkland, the chateau offers a discreet environment. The very generous sized house is 750 square meters (approx 8250 sq ft) in size and contains 5 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms together with one ensuite bedroom room suitable for children.

There is a spacious, well equipped kitchen together with a well appointed dining room and lounge. A library on the 1st floor offers guests an alternative relaxation area.

The interior of the house has been extensively refurbished including new furnishings, new double glazed oak windows and a new renewable energy heating and hot water system. The family rooms have a warm and friendly feel and many guests have remarked on the very inviting atmosphere of the house.

The chateau is located within the Berry Region and is approximately 35 minutes from the stunning cathedral town of Bourges with its historic centre. One hour away is the beautiful wine growing region of Sancerre and the chateau even has its own wine produced locally and private tours of the production facility can be arranged.

The world famous racing circuit of Magny Cours is a 40 minute drive from the chateau.

The Berry offers an extremely diverse selection of tourist attractions and especially noteworthy are the 7 Secret Gardens. Mostly within an hour of the chateau the nearest one at Apremont Sur Allier (25 minutes drive) is particularly noteworthy.

We stayed for 4 days in Oct 2011 and we found that the Chateau itself has been immaculately renovated and furnished and offers true quality whilst the welcome and the atmosphere from the minute you turn in to the gates from the road is second to none.
We were so well looked after from the moment we arrived till we drove away at the end of 4 magical days. Anna is the perfect hostess and an excellent cook. She coped really well with our vegetarian requirements and the food was so tasty and well presented. She couldn't do enough to pamper us from morning till night.
We were in the Bordeaux Suite which was extremely spacious, 18' x 9' with high ceilings and a huge bathroom.
The grounds are splendid and well maintained with seating at various locations allowing you to sit and while the time away listening to the birds and watching the red squirrels play.
The lovely heated swimming pool had already been prepared for winter so we were unable to enjoy it ourselves but look forward to going back again next year to do so.
If you are ever travelling through France it is well worth planning your route to spend a few days here. There are 5 suites altogether and would also be great for a holiday itself, for a family get together, a business meeting or just a romantic getaway for 2 (4 poster bed included!). One of the suites also has an interconnecting second bedroom for families too!
It took us 5 hours to drive back to Calais and is less to St Malo.

Having just spent a weekend at the Chateau with a friend, I must tell others what a special place this is. The Chateau is set in beautifully cared for and picturesque parkland, including an orchard, herb garden, and acres of open space, woodland and quaint outbuildings including a coachhouse and cottage, currently disused. An outdoor heated swimming pool was drained for the winter, but would be a lovely relaxing place to spend a day in warmer months. Inside the chateau is warm, welcoming and homely, with beautiful wooden, stone and marble floors, all warmed by underfloor heating, and adorned with gorgeous rugs. The bedroom suites are spacious and tastefully decorated, each room with a different theme and colour scheme - and the bed was so comfortable. And the bathrooms are just divine!!!
The continental breakfast was lovely, and a good traditionally french start to the day. The evening meal, made with locally sourced produce and fruit and herbs from the grounds was delicious, beautifully complimented by wines from the chateau's wine cellar for all tastes and purses. The Chateau's own wine was very reasonably priced and very drinkable!
The new owner Paul was not staying at the Chateau during our stay, but sounds like a wonderful host and remarkably charitable person - for all room proceeds to be donated to two very special charities is just fantastic.
But the stay was made the most special because of the Chateau manager, Anna - a wonderfully genuine and bubbly hostess with obvious experience in the hospitality industry, and a huge asset to the Chateau experience. She was so welcoming, and made us feel so instantly at home, we really did nit want to leave.
A return visit is most definitely on the cards. It is a special place which would be hard to beat.

As the last reviewer said this place has changed hands and is now on top form. The chateau is charming and homely, grand without being intimidating. The grounds have so much potential too. there is a fledgling vegetable garden and a pool. Paul and Anna are charming hosts - the place oozes enthusiasm and is also conveniently situated just off the main routes between North and South or vice versa as well as being in a delightful area. We had the Charly Suite with very comfortable four poster and acres of space as well as a very appointed bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower. The owner Paul is making a huge personal investment in this venture for no personal gain which is pretty amazing so I say GO GO GO Paul and Anna and go go go and visit!

My wife Helen and I have just spent the most magical four days at C19th Chateau. It is situated in about 30 acres of stunning parkland in the picturesque village of Charly to the south of Bourges, almost in the dead centre of France.
From the moment we were greeted so warmly by Paul and his ever smiling and happy colleague Anna, we felt completely at home. The sense of warmth and welcome that Paul and Anna exude make one feel that one is visiting the home of an old friend.
After a refreshing welcome drink we were shown to our sumptuous room, the Charly Suite, a huge bedroom with a magnificent 4 poster bed and the most wonderful bathroom with a lovely claw foot bath and double shower. Both rooms had a glorious view over the park.
The chateau is magnificent in a very comfortable way. It is not at all pretentious and exudes warmth and comfort in all its aspects, greatly enhanced by the attitudes of Paul and Anna for whom nothing is too much trouble.
We made arrangements to have dinner on the first night having arrived after a five hour drive, expecting to eat out for the rest of our stay. Well that was it ! Having tasted Anna's wonderful cooking we ate at the Chateau every night! They have an excellent cellar incidentally! Breakfasts are another treat !
Our days were spent either by the pool, which is situated far enough away from the main house so as to be very private, with a glorious view over the orchard, or walking or cycling around the area. Paul has bicycles which he kindly lent us.
For us the Chateau feels like a home away from home. We want it be both a closely guarded secret that we can go back to on a regular basis and at the same time something that we want to shout from the roof tops about that others can experience.
Many, many thanks to Paul, Anna and Sarah for making our year! We'll be back very soon !

The chateau is absolutely lovely. Each room beautifully decorated and with gorgeous bathrooms. We stayed in the rose suite and I must say it was the best night sleep EVER. The bed was a dream! Crisp white sheets of the softest cotton. The table d'hôte was very good and the breakfast too.
The location is not very exciting, since Charly can hardly be called a village and the rest of the close environment is not too swell to. But it was a very relaxing stay!

We stayed at the chateau and I must say, We are very grateful to have had the experience of staying in a CHATEAU, something we would NEVER have been able to do without the HARD work of Jason and Philippa. We had a long trip to get there, and sometimes, the last thing you need , is to be dragged around to see what is on offer. We appreciated being left to our own devices. We were privileged to be left alone at the chateau with the trust of Jason and Philippa. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed it very much. If we had any questions, both Jason and Philippa were more than happy to offer information. They should be congratulated, they had done a tremendous amount of work and lets face it, we all have "off days", although we never experienced this. Well done to you both.

C19th Chateau is a gorgeous country house, renovated to a high standard to provide a truly luxurious stay. Small and perfectly formed, I was really excited to see their orchard, their vegetable garden and most of all the rather fabulous bathroom ;)

The hosts really make you feel at home and I love the fact that all the proceeds go to charities to help kids in Sri Lanka and Haiti. I've recommended it to all my friends, and I'll definitely be going back!

Thanks Sarah and Anna for a fab time :)

It was recommended by some friends who had stayed at C19th Chateau in the summer to go there for a romantic weekend with my husband, and how surprised we were! This bed and breakfast certainly has the 'wow' factor! Superb decor everywhere, Sumptuous fixtures and fittings, giant comfortable bed, fab bathroom and service with a smile from the warm hosts!
Breakfast was hearty and tasty, with fresh produce etc. Lots of items for the charity they support for sale too, and even more amazing, all monies received from EVERYTHING, goes straight to these charities! Can't wait till the summer to return and use the swimming pool. This place is a must when travelling through the Loire.

Probably one of our best holidays! Sun, fun, total relaxation in calm, tranquil surroundings. We could do as much as we liked...sit by the pool all day or walk, cycle, visit nearby towns with lots of Historical Interst! We also had the best welcome from Anna and Paul! What more could you ask for!

C19th Chateau is a true gem, its nestled in some lovely countryside in central France and makes a perfect stop off to the South of France. I travelled by Eurostar and caught a train to Bourges, where the lovely manager Anna collected me from the station.
The chateau is certainly home from home, its very comfortable, lovely clean rooms, spacious rooms, ....such beautiful bed linen and the decor is comfortable and chic.
Anna was the perfect host cooking a gorgeous dinner on the first evening and catering to my every need. The chateau was warm, and welcoming and as soon as I arrived I felt relaxed.
Anna organised a trip to Sancere which was a lovely day out and we sampled some wine that is sold at the chateau.
Apart from the host and the Chateau being amazing, the most impressive thing is that all proceeds go to two charities. Totally inspirational venture and I wish Anna & the Owners the best !!! I'll be back

Had an amazing stay at C19th Chateau . The setting, accommodation, decor, food and peace are unbeatable!! Would recommend to anyone for a weekend break or longer stay to explore the loire or just to relax in the grounds or by the pool with a glass of wine. Would be a great corporate venue also though a little too special for your average corp do. Cannot recommend this place enough and have not one single negative point other than it's not mine! Thanks and hope to see you again soon.
