Chateau Auguste found deep in the heart of France is set in seventeen hectares of its own grounds, beyond which are over a thousand hectares of woodland and forest. One of the region’s most important architectural gems this 18th Century Bourbonnaise design is listed as a ‘Monument Historique’.

Dinner is literally served à la table d'hôtes with salads and vegetables straight from the chateau’s kitchen garden as well as local market and farm sourced produce. Preceded by a champagne aperitif served in Baccarat crystal in the Trophy Hall, courses are served with silver cutlery and fine porcelain.

The present owner’s ancestor, Michel Cadier, 1st Lord of Veauce, converted the Chateau Auguste into a hunting lodge at the turn of the 18th Century. Shooting can be arranged locally and delicious game dishes can be served in the delightful Italianesque dining room. The Chateau Auguste is furnished with period furniture throughout and all bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. Breakfast each morning is included in the rental price.

Up to 15 guests can be accommodated in the summer and seven for the rest of the year (as part of the property is not heated). Further beds can be made available in many of the bedrooms for older children. We regret we are unable to accommodate small children. Please note that with the exception of the converted chapel, the chateau is run on a B&B basis and its kitchens (which are used as service kitchens to cook for guests) and utility rooms are not available for guests. However, the hosts will be happy to organise any amount of catering for you during your stay.

On the first floor is the impressive entrance hall, the dining room, a trophy hall and the living rooms. On the second floor is a spacious hallway leading to billiard room and the bedrooms. The master double bedroom overlooks the garden, pond and forest and is furnished with XVIIth century furniture, all modern conveniences and a large en suite bathroom in Italian marble with bath and WC. The second bedroom is a warm and intimate room furnished with period furniture including a finely carved four poster bed decorated with the family’s coat of arms that overlooks the courtyard. There is a separate bathroom with bath and WC. Bedroom 3 is a sunny room overlooking the chapel that is decorated and furnished in the style of Louis XVI. Bedroom 4 is located in the chapel wing, with its escritoire, fireplace, French ceiling and stunning view of the Honour Court and garden it makes the perfect retreat and even has its own kitchen facilities. Adjoining this large bedroom is an additional single bedroom. Bedrooms 5 and 6 consist of a twin and a double bedroom with a shared living room and bathroom located in this detached building in the Honour Court. Both these rooms are only available in the summer months.

The chateau courtyard, the Honor Court, is made up of La Maison d’Hôtes, the reception hall that can accommodate up to 150 people, the owner's private buildings, stables and garages. The chateau grounds include a terrace which can be used for dining during the summer, gardens and woodland.
