Chateau de Villes is located in a stunning countryside location in the Morvan Hills in central Burgundy, approximately 60km from Beaune. Luxuriously furnished and recently sympathetically renovated, Chateau de Villes offers the perfect combination of sumptuous opulent living with beautiful period features and details. The chateau also benefits from a private, heated swimming pool.
The Chateau de Villes enjoys magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding 1000 acre estate, set in parkland said to be an early example of the design of Andre le Notre, famous for his work in Chantilly and Versailles.
Chateau de Villes has recently been redesigned following its former use as a private residence and playground of the French aristocracy, and guests to the chateau will enjoy fine bed linen, beautiful drapery and luxuriously appointed rooms.
On the ground floor the magnificent reception room benefits from an open fireplace and provides access to the formal outdoor terrace, where guests of honour would be received. Through to the hall, one will find a sweeping staircase which provides access to the other parts of the chateau. There is a huge kitchen that dates back to the sixteenth century, fully equipped with a Lacanche cooker. The ground floor salon and large formal eighteenth century dining room both benefit from large open fireplaces. The first bedroom - Carrol’s Corner – is situated on the ground floor. Sleeping two, south facing, furnished with a king size bed and en suite private bathroom with shower, this beautiful room enjoys a fantastic view. A second bedroom, furnished with two single beds, is also situated on the ground floor.
On the first floor the Fairthorn bedroom, decorated in natural colours in keeping with the countryside location, sleeps up to three, and benefits from a four poster king size bed, a separate single bed, open fireplace and en suite bathroom with bath. The Freshford bedroom also sleeps two, benefitting from a large double bed and en suite bathroom. The decor is warm and colourful. The Angelica bedroom, classically decorated in pink, is also south-facing and enjoys beautiful views. This fourth bedroom benefits from a large king size double bed, en suite bathroom with bath and open fireplace.
On the second floor sleeping two in separate single beds, Chambre Emmelina and Chambre Charlotte are each equipped with a hand basin and enjoy super views from the south-facing window. Chambre rouge and Chambre Harriette each have south-facing windows and benefit from fantastic views of the parkland. The former sleeps three, with a king-size bed and single bed and the latter sleeps two in a king size bed. Each are again equipped with a hand basin. There are two bathrooms on the second floor, with a bath and shower attachment, washing basin and WC.
The superb grounds are perfect for those who wish to explore and enjoy French country living. In addition to the chateau’s extensive own grounds, those who stay at Chateau de Villes will have access to over 2800 hectares, including neighbouring estates. The land surrounding the château comprises over 1500 hectares of woodland, fields, streams, several huge lakes and more than fifteen smaller ones. The land around the chateau is a shooters’ dream, combining hilly, varied, challenging terrain with incredible views, across the chateau park, which is over 100 years old.

Now we have our own stories to tell about this fairy-tale spot in the hills, woods, fields, farms, wildlife and friendly locals. The atmosphere of this place, the dinners, and fine wines, we will continue to taste in our mind for a long time."
