Built in 1800 from local yellow sandstone, Les Altheas is one of the largest and most important properties in the village. It is located in the very heart of the village on a quiet, narrow lane and has splendid views of the chateau, the old buildings of the village and the surrounding countryside. The shop, church and post-office are about 100 yards from the front door and the auberge is about 5 minutes walk. The house does not have a pool but there is a beautiful swimming lake just a short walk from the property.
There is a small, flower filled garden opposite the property that belongs to it and to the rear, there is a large adjoining garden and orchard overlooking the surrounding fields. The house has been sympathetically restored to bring-out the best of the early nineteenth century features and has been decorated and furnished in a luxury, modern and sophisticated style.
The house is very spacious, elegant and airy, with high ceilings, Italian marble floors, period features, beautiful wood floors upstairs and a magnificent, wide, circular wooden staircase. Downstairs there is a modern shower-room with basin, wc and washing machine. The fully equipped kitchen is a very large room incorporating a living area with sofa, working fireplace and dresser. The sitting room comes with marble fireplace, 2 linen-covered sofas, TV cabinet with DVD player, large footstool, bookcase and other furniture. The dining room has a round table and chairs. Both rooms have high, beamed ceilings and antique painted furniture.
Upstairs bedrooms 1 & 2 have king-size beds, bedroom 3 has a double bed and bedroom 4 has 2 single beds. Bedrooms 1 and 3 both have en suite bath/shower rooms.
The beautiful, well-stocked gardens and small orchard, on different levels and backing on to open farmland, are a real feature of the property. There is plenty of garden furniture and a Weber barbecue. Although there is no pool, there is a lake within easy walking distance, that has swimming, boating and other leisure activities, together with a life-guard at peak times.
