Manoir De L'eveque

The beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, Saint Jean de Luz and Biarritz are just minutes away from the superb Manoir de l'Eveque. Two highly rated golf courses of the Basque Country, “Chantaco” and “La Nivelle”, are within 10 minutes drive. The Manoir de l'Eveque was originally built in 1575, by the Archbishop from the local Ascain village.

The manor has been fully and fantastically restored by the current proprietors who have managed to maintain its original style, with antique furniture in keeping with original features. From the Coats of Arms, the friezes and carved images, one can sense the history at the Manoir de l'Eveque. The house accommodates up to 8 people, and has its own private garden. Daily maid service is included in the rental price.

The Manoir de l'Eveque sleeps 8 guests in its 4 bedrooms, there are 3 en-suite bathrooms and the 4th bedroom has its own private bathroom. Also within the grounds is a cottage house with 2 bedrooms that can be rented along with the manor for groups of up to 12.

On the ground floor there are 2 large salons - a stone arch door separates the two so they are ideal for entertaining. Double doors lead out onto the terrace and the views of the ocean. A charming stone spiral staircase links the first and second floors.

On the first floor there is a large dining room to seat up to 12 people. The living room has a huge working open fire place and TV. There is, of course, a large traditional kitchen and utility room that contains all amenities including a table that seats 7. A WC can be found halfway up the stairs. The Manor sleeps 8 guests in its 4 first floor bedrooms, there are 3 en-suite bathrooms and the 4th bedroom has its own private bathroom next to it. There is a further WC and the attic on the second floor for storage.

The Manoir de l'Eveque sits along a path lined with rows of large ancient oak trees, where a walking trail leads to the village of Ascain. The Manor and the Cottage are encircled by stone walls, originally constructed for during the religious wars. Through the ancient stone entrance, a courtyard with paved terrace enters onto the centre lawn. There are BBQ facilities on site. Looking south from the courtyard there is the enchanting “jardin de curé”, and to the west, one can look over the peaceful gardens and across to the Spanish mountains.

The Manoir de l'Eveque rests outside the village of Ascain, looking up at the spectacular “La Rhune” mountain, and faces picturesque countryside backed by the Atlantic Ocean. The Manor is surrounded by acres of farmland and woodlands lined with ancient wild oak trees. The manoir is 30 minutes from the Biarritz International airport. Spain is not far and should one wish to TGV to Paris the journey time is 5 hours.

2 hours of maid service is provided. For any other catering or service enquiries, please contact the owner prior to booking.

- Security deposit: €2000. The security deposit is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: All linen and towels are included in the rental price.
- Energy costs: Included in the rental price. There may be a charge for the low seasons.
- End of stay cleaning: Included in the rental price.
- Arrival time: 4pm onwards.
- Departure time: 10am.

- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.
