This magnificent Chateau lies in the Perigord region of the Dordogne. Originally built in 1840 and recently refurbished to the highest standards the chateau features antique furnishings, original artworks and designer décor making it the epitome of luxury.

This estate sleeps 37 guests in total; 29 in the main chateau and a further 8 in the gite, which is located within the grounds of Chateau Durantey. Twelve acres of beautifully maintained gardens, which feature mature fruit orchards, a swimming pool and a badminton court, are yours to enjoy. Meals can be taken either on the terrace, which boasts a lovely view of the Perigord and the Dordogne or in the chateau’s magnificent dining room.

The main chateau boasts 12 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, 5 of which are en suite. There is also a large drawing room, 2 dining rooms, a snooker room, a modern well equipped kitchen, an office, a library and a separate television room. The gite features 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is decorated to the same high standards as the chateau itself.

Chateau Durantey was once the palatial home of Marashal Bugeaud, the Duke of d’Isly, and was given to him as a token of appreciation for his dedication to France. Duke d’Isly served under Napoloen and is famed for plotting the victorious Algerian war in 1836. A host of statues and landmarks dedicated to the Duke can be found throughout France.

The Chateau comprises of 13 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, 5 of which are en-suites, sleeping up to 29 guests. The self contained luxury gite has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms to sleep an additional 8. The chateau has a discreet traditional elegance combined with modern appliances.

Chateau: The basement has a large spare kitchen and wine cellar. The ground floor has a large drawing room, 2 formal dining rooms, a snooker room, a superb modern well equipped kitchen, a library, television room, a fully equipped office, 2 WCs, and a large terrace with garden furniture for up to 40 people.

The first floor has 2 huge double suites, which come with a sitting room and en-suite bathroom. There are a further 3 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The second floor has 3 double bedrooms, 2 twins, a room with 2 double beds & a single, a room with 2 double beds and 3 separate shower rooms. Please note all rooms are non-smoking.

Gite: The Gite is 50 meters from the chateau and has a kitchen, 4 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms.

Outside guests will enjoy the 12 acres of park land, a swimming pool (12x6m) with fence and alarm and 12 luxurious sun beds with tables. There is also a table tennis table, badminton court, bicycles, tennis court and a BBQ area for 40 guests. The gardens are surrounded by a wall and fence so children and animals can run free!

Within 15 minutes of the chateau there is a lake (with beach sand) for fishing, water skiing and canoeing. There are also local tennis courts and horse riding facilities. Within walking distance of the chateau one can find 2 bakeries, a butcher, a supermarket and there's an outdoor market once a week in the village. A new golf course is only 7 minues by car.

Wine tastings can be held at the château. There are large supermarkets in St Yrieux. Within 15 minutes there are several excellent restaurants. Bergerac is 128km from the chateau.

The closest airports are Limoges (50 minutes), Bergerac (90 minutes) and Bordeaux (2 hours). There are good train connection from Paris to Limoges (3 hours).

 

The owner of the chateau has run a successful catering company for the last 10 years and has catered for over 200 weddings. A cook will be able to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner (menus ranging from 20 to 80 euros a head). A cleaner can be provided at 12 euros an hour. Included in the price is a cleaner that comes in 3 times per week for 3 hours.

Babysitters can be hired for 20 euros an hour. Drivers can be hired for 120 euros a day. We also rent out a 1950's Bentley and a driver at 200 euros + petrol a day.

32 guests can stay at the chateau. There are plenty of b&bs and hotels within walking distance or a short drive.

Limoges airport 45 min, Bergerac 1hr 30 min, Bordeaux 2hr.30.

 

- Capacity: The chateau comfotably sleeps up to 20 adults and 9 children/teens. The Gite sleeps 8 adults.
- Security deposit: €1500. The security deposit is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: All linen and towels are included in the rental price.
- Energy costs: Included in the rental price. There may be a charge for the low seasons. 
- End of stay cleaning: Included in the rental price.
