The Chateau du Clos was built a millennium ago and as such is a rare example of history with all its idiosyncrasies yet with comfortable and modern furnishings. The Chateau is both tastefully and authentically decorated.
The Chateau du Clos actually overlooks the River Loire, which makes the views from the terrace simply magical. There are many magnificent mature trees within the lush grounds & parkland. 8 guests can be accommodated in the 4 luxurious bedrooms and generous reception rooms. The chateau is in close proximity to the local village and not far from the grand city of Orleans.
On the ground floor one enters into a large hall that leads to a sizeable salon complete with a period fireplace. Next to this is the library and grand piano. The dining room is adjacent to the salon (with TV) that looks out across the gardens and the river. The kitchen has all the necessary modern appliances and there is a downstairs bathroom with WC. On the first floor there are 4 double bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room, a sauna and WC.
The gardens benefit from an abundance of mature trees. The landscaped lawns complete a magnificent exterior overlooking the River Loire. The setting is most tranquil. The manor has WIFI internet connection for all guests.

"We had a wonderful week at the manoir… Michael was great and showed us all the secret passages under the manoir! I was sad to leave but promised to come back next year. Thank you again."

We stayed at Michel's chateau last year - and it was one of our most memorable holidays. The place is extraordinary!
We had breakfast on the terrace every morning over looking the river Loire, and set the table with candles and crystal, linen and amazing crockery from the very well stocked cupboards. There are a few Michelin starred restaurants close by (30-40min by car). The property is very old - but it was very well maintained and Michel gave us a wonderful tour under ground thru the tunnels and passages under the chateau. He even put up an Australian flag to welcome us on our arrival! Highly recommended!

A gorgeous house overlooking breathtaking gardens down to the Loire, with an unfailingly interesting panorama of bird life. Lavish provision of crockery, cutlery, glassware, linen, etc--way beyond normal for a rental house. All is comfortable, and living in the house is like a university course in architecture. Cathedrals & chateaux take a little driving but are all doable in day trips. The nearby supermarket has everything you need, down to huge artichokes and okay claret. The charming and intelligent gardiner is a special and unexpected plus.

A fabulous and atmospheric manor house, full of charm and style. It's very special! We spent a wonderful Christmas there with our (adult) children and our dog - the house is extremely spacious and comfortable; there are lots of interesting daytime rooms and the bedrooms too are fascinating and individual. So it's very easy to find quiet places and to cater for different interests and moods. It feels as if you have been given the freedom of a very precious and loved ancestral home, which is why for us it was such an unforgettable experience. The house does not in any way have the feel of a rental property. Michel, the owner, was discreet but welcoming; his motto that "the house is for living in" was genuine and visible everywhere. So nothing appears to be locked away. There is an abundance of beautiful glasses and tableware. All the rooms are full of unusual and interesting antiques, ornaments and pictures. There is no list of things that guests must do or not do! Overall, you feel that the whole rental process is based on trust and understanding. You would definitely need a car to take full advantage of your stay here. With this proviso, there are many places of interest within easy reach, including the magnificent chateau at Chambord and, for fans of Tintin, the chateau at Cheverny. Orleans and Meung sur Loire are a short drive away. There are plenty of local shops, supermarkets and restaurants nearby, as well as a particularly good boulangerie within walking distance. During our visit the weather was very crisp and cold, leading to some wonderful outdoor scenery - frozen fountains in the garden and spectacular skylines against the backdrop of the adjacent River Loire. Even in winter the formal gardens were stunning and, in warmer weather, they must be a delight. For us, though, our abiding memory of the manor will be the warmth of our welcome, log fires and candlelight, and the unique character and comfort of the house.

Every year for the last 15 years, I and two or three fellow artists have rented a large house in France for a week or so of uninterrupted painting for our solo exhibitions in London. I am interested in painting interiors with charm and atmosphere so I spent ages on the internet googling for Manors and Chateaux. My fellows artists are also looking for landscapes, gardens and terraces. We have only twice returned to the same rented propery and this was one of them. This exceptional historic place is approached by a quiet river drive that runs along the side of the Loire, down stream from Orleans. Old metal gates swing back and you drive up to the curved outside staircase that leads to the front door. We were greeted by the very welcoming and talented owner Michel. He is, with great flair, who has decorated this great house and given the rooms such style and atmosphere. I couldn't wait to paint the wonderful lamp lit Grand salon with it's great fire place and rich colour, it was filled with treasure unlike most houses for rent. Other rooms led to a wonderful large terrace that looked over the beautiful gardens to the River Loire wiht it willows, poplars and sand banks. Roses rambled over pergolas and virginia creeper over the balustrade. White doves flew from their dovecot and a fountain played, it was Paradise...We long to return for a third visit.
