The property is superb, in a wonderful serene setting. It actually exceeded our expectations in the spaciousness it affords. 13 of us plus extra, who were lodged elsewhere, were comfortably accommodated.
The house was well-equipped, stylishly furnished and the staff who came to clean, fix and babysit were all extremely helpful. Best of all it was quiet!
Cleaning service was excellent and helpful.
The villa met our requirements fully. The brochure cannot fully describe the facilities, quality, comfort and position/location. We found these all first class - we particularly found the security of access to the swimming pool very good in view of young children in our family party.
The chateau is only 60km from Bergerac (with Ryanair airport) and 10km from the local town of Tursac. It is located in the centre of "Le Perigord Noir" on top of a hill overlooking the Vezere river valley, a famous prehistoric site with breathtaking views.
Wine tours can be arranged on request by the local hotel. There are several historic sites and geographical landmarks in the surrounding area and these include "La Roque Saint Christophe", "Le Musée National de la Prehistoric" and the historic market town of Sarlat.
For shopping, the town of Tursac (only a short drive away) has a selection of shops and supermarkets. There is also Les Eyzies and Beynac by the Dordogne.
There are tennis courts 500m away, 9 hole golf courses at Vitrac (31km) and at St-Félix-de-Reilhac (22km),
and an 18 hole golf course at Siorac-en-Périgord (26km).
