Location Fontareches is a quiet, medieval village which is surrounded by vineyards, asparagus and melon fields, apricot and cherry trees. A few minutes walk away are the most lovely pine woods and it is also on the doorstep of the Cotes du Rhone wine trail.
The nearest village is St.Quentin la Potterie. A short car drive or bike ride will lead you down to this village which has 3 bakeries, a butcher, newsagent, bar, organic cafe, small supermarket and pharmacy. A market is held here every friday.
12km away is the delightful town of Uzes, which has the distinction of being the first Duchy of France. Uzes is a town of towers, vaulted stone walkways and cobbled streets. The market here is famous and a wonder of the Provencal world and is a marvellous celebration of everything southern. It is within easy reach of the galleries, restaurants and delectable shops.
Also nearby is that marvel of Roman engineering, the Pont du Gard, where you can sunbathe and picnic or even swim in the crystal clear waters. The Pont du Gard is a photographer's dream, especially at sunrise or sunset. The area is also fabulous for walking with beautiful beaches just under 1hour away, where the magical Camargue horses roam.

Relaxing family holiday

Back from Provence and into the rain.... What a jolt.
We had a lovely holiday in your house, and loved being in the area.
We wanted to flag up a few things which you may not realise
- we were a party of eight and on a couple of days of storms had no where to eat indoors, as the set up is for six, but you say the house is for ten.
If the house had ten people , as it potentially can, there would not be enough outside seating either. There are 8 exterior seats and now after a request from us there are 8 loungers.
- a large group needs larger serving bowls and dishes for salad, pasta etc. There was one salad bowl and a tiny colander, not much use for our group.

Set in very private grounds the house and gardens offer a wonderful combination of country living but with the close proximity of lovely villages and the marvellous town of Uzes.
Both the main house and the pool house comfortably accomodate a family making the property ideal for two groups or families who want both privacy and company! Unlike many other French Gites and Villas, this property is finished to a very high standard, making for a really hassle free holiday.
The property has also been furnished and stocked with everything you could possibly need so it is easy to travel light! If you are wanting Provence weather, an English serene garden and perfect seclusion, look no further.

We had a wonderful holiday here. A beautiful, traditional chateaux set within some woods and yet near enough to enjoy local highlights from sleepy villages, superb towns and nearby attractions. Lovely for families as the pool is magnificent, it has a separate house to the main accommodation and it is all in magnificent order and in great repair. It has everything you need for a wonderful holiday, local feel and comes strongly recommended for the perfect balance of French ambiance and enjoyment for family holidays. Enjoy - it's wonderful.
Fantastic Family Getaway

We visited the Villa Fontare with our friends who stayed in the cottage with their young daughter and we stayed in the main house with our son and baby. The setting is wonderful on private, beautifully maintained grounds. A little way from shops but this was not a problem for us as we had rented a car from Avignon. The house is tastefully decorated and was very well equipped with quality items and it felt like home away from home with an array of films, indoor and outdoor toys and games for the kids. We particularly enjoyed the house and cottage being on either end of the pool which meant we were able to enjoy each others company but had our own space when required- especially appreciated with small children. Truly a perfect place for the whole family with plenty to do for all ages. The perfect family getaway!
Fantanstic family villa

My wife I and our children went here with another couple and their little ones and had a fabulous time. We got the direct train from King Cross to Avignon and then picked up hire cars there. We stayed in the main house and they were in the cottage, which worked out well as we all had plenty of space.
The garden and pool were very seculded and the kids loved exploring the garden. It was very well equipped meaning we didn't have to spend time going and to get a lot of things that you take for granted at home.
We went walking and on bike rides around the nearby villages, got bread and milk from a shops about 5 minute drive away. We had trips out to the Pont de Gard (but you are not allowed to walk all the way over it any more like I did as a child). We went Uzes for the market and evening dinners.
In summary a quiet villa very good for large families or groups who want a relaxing interesting holiday.
I rated this 5 out of 5 stars
