This beautiful chateau is situated in a green valley within walking distance of an ancient village. A long drive takes you up to the charming, fully restored manor house, that can sleep up to 26 guests. The chateau sits amongst beautiful gardens with plenty of garden furniture and a purpose built BBQ area. The tranquil setting of the chateau includes a small stream running through the grounds, two ponds ( that cannot currently be used for fishing) and a wood to explore.
The property is ideally suited to large groups for special occasions. Breakfast is optional by reservation and can be served outside on the patio, surrounded by flowers, or inside by candlelight in the medieval dining room.
For those who want to relive past glories, the chateau offers an evocative slice of France's past. Within the grounds are the ruins of former chateau buildings, a well dating back to 1753, a dovecote from the 16th Century, the original wine caves (now out of use and used for storage) and the stone windows of a 12th Century chapel that will simply steal your heart!
The chateau has been converted in to several self-catering apartments and extra bedrooms all within the main building. This makes it ideal for a number of families holidaying together who wish to maintain a level of privacy. All the rooms have central heating apart from the top floor apartment, which has one room with electric heating.
On the ground floor the medieval dining room, with huge fireplace (decorative only) and many candles, can seat 25 ( TV with a few English channels. The salon bedroom is a lovely well-proportioned double room with luxury en-suite bathroom. The sunny garden room that adjoins has 2 single beds, a small double and private access to the garden. Also on the ground floor is a well-proportioned classical bedroom suite with oak parquet floor, panelled walls, rose marble fireplace, double bed and en-suite bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, dish washer, microwave, oven, hob, fridge, freezer and cooking faciltities for the group.
On the first floor the stylishly furnished apartment in the left wing is accessed via the tower. The living room has original beams, a log fire and comfortable chairs and sofa. There is also a large kitchen, a triple bedroom, a double bedroom and a bathroom. The next apartment on this floor has a living room with double bed, a corner kitchen, an additional triple bedroom and a bathroom. The third apartment on this floor has a kitchen, a spacious living room, a double bedroom and a bathroom. The last bedroom on this floor is a very comfortable suite room with beautiful antique furniture, an extra large double bed, comfortable chairs and sofa, log fire, dinner table and en-suite bathroom.

There are enclosed gardens for the children to play in including playgrounds, slide, swings, cabin and games such as badminton, cricket, boules, table tennis etc. They can also feed the donkeys and horses in the paddocks. Secure parking is available and the chateau sits 500 metres from the road (a small road) so there is no traffic noise.
guest also have access to a 16th century dovecot, a lovely tower, which offers a unique and special atmosphere. It is ideal for a for dance parties or nice meal with a group of friends. We can also organise a delicious suckling pig on the spit or roast lamb.

The local village was once the feudal domain of the Bruces, ancestors of Scotland's famous King Robert the Bruce. Within a short distance of the chateau you will find ancient villages, chateaux, manors, churches and abbeys. Normandy has a rich history and is proud of its cultural heritage from the Romans, Celts, Vikings and Normans.
The chateau is close to beautiful sandy beaches (20 minutes), a wide choice of restaurants (5 minutes), a children’s animal park (15 minutes), the traditional French markets with fresh local produce (10 minutes), La maison du biscuit hyper markets/shopping area (10 minutes), Mont St. Michel (1.5 hour), D-Day landing beaches (30 minutes), the Bayeux Tapestry (1 hour), Sea life Cherbourg (10 minutes). We can provide you with Calvados from the local farmer and wine tasting if it's of interest.
There is a restaurant 8km away for simple, good value French food. We recommend the local markets on Monday morning in Bricquebec (7 km) and Friday morning in Valognes (10 km). In the village is a bakery, post office, bar, butcher, a medical centre and a pharmacy, all within walking distance of the chateau.
Locally there is a tennis court and horse riding. Golf is 6km away. The area is well suited for walking and hiking, golf and (experienced) biking.
We can give you a quote depending on your wishes. It is possible to rent a French cook, specialities are roasted meat and fruits de mer. Simple meals are also possible, we are very flexible.
We can also hire an English cook, who is very reasonable in price and makes beautiful meals - he had his own fine restaurant doing haute cuisine for many years.
