Château de Montmirey is a traditional late 19th century Normandy château. Built by Alphonse Lemerre, a wealthy publisher, as his country mansion in 1898, it has served many roles in the past 100 years.

During the first world war it was used as a convalescence hospital for soldiers wounded at the front. After the war, it served as a monastic school and convent.

During the second world war it was occupied by the Vermarcht for the region and was visited by all the senior German staff at that time. After the war, it went back to being a convent school. It is now available for you to enjoy a wonderful family holiday, works outing or business conference.

Nestled in lush greenery in the heart of Normandy, the property of Castle Montmirey offers several rental cottages and two charming cottages. Near Saint Lô, between the landing beaches and Mont Saint-Michel, the Chateau invites you to relax and explore.

On site you can enjoy the tropical garden with lush vegetation that houses the indoor heated pool. A billiards room is also available.

Between the Atlantic and English Channel, the Cotentin, country and marine farming will enchant you with its diverse landscapes, gastronomy and its rich history.

Chateau Interior (8 Bedrooms)
Ground Floor
Steps lead up from the drive to double doors opening into the large entrance hall with large oak staircase leading to floors above. Off the entrance hall there is a WC and two sets of double doors leading to the spacious lounge with 17th century moulded fire place in white and gold with wood burning stove. Normandy style beamed ceiling and oak panelled walls. Ample comfortable seating, bar area, and large screen TV with video. The second double doors lead from the hall into the dining room spanning the full width of the chateau with beautifully oak panelled walls, carved oak fire place and port mantle. The dining room leads into the spacious and well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar & wood burning stove in the old stone fire place. Large kitchen table seating up to 12 people.

First Floor
Stairs lead to the first floor landing with a double bedroom situated between two separate areas that can be closed off from the rest of the chateau. To the left is the Alphonse Lemerre suite with small sitting area, family room (double and single bed) and a twin bedroom. Decorated in gold and burgundy with ceiling mouldings. White marble fire places. A spacious bathroom with separate bath. Separate toilet. To the right is the Versailles suite with two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a single bed and a shower room with toilet. Decorated in gold and royal blue with moulded walls; black marble fire place.

Second Floor
The North Tower family Suite: Large family room with double and single bed, twin room, sitting area, two separate toilets and shower room.

Outbuilding
Coach House (4 Bedrooms)
The Coach House has 4 bedrooms, all on ground floor - three with two single beds, one with a double bed. There is a living room with fire place, kitchen with access to the terrace, bathroom and 2 WC's.

Pavillion (6 Bedrooms)
The ground floor of the pavillion has a living room, 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds. There is a big lounge bathroom and WC.

The first floor has two bedrooms with one double bed each. There is a well equipped kitchen, dining room, WC and bathroom.

The Attic has room for three single beds and a bedroom with one double bed and one single.

The property is situated in the middle of what is reported to be some of the most beautiful countryside in the world, with plenty of scope for cycling, walking and picnics. The whole region is full of sites to see such as the towns of Coutances, Saint Lo, Granville, Bayeux, full of formal gardens, museums, parks, châteaux and stunning scenery.

The area is famous for its seafood cuisine, cider, cheese and calvados. Rennes and le Mont-St Michel are only one hour away, whilst Paris can be reached in 3 short hours.

- Security Deposit: £2000 breakages deposit returnable one week after your stay.
- Linen & Towels: The rental of sheets is €14 per bed. Hire of towels is €7 per person.
